Im HOPING they cast a group full of more feisty people that wont be afraid to not share their team's ressources though :D

LemonJam 20-12-2011 12:58 AM

Suprisingly excited for this.

I was the biggest Survivor fanatic from Cook Islands back in 2006 to Nicaragua in 2010, but thhe show has become far too tainted for me, and is now Survivor only in name. I skipped Redemption Island and South Pacific, and I'm unsure about skipping this one. I'll give it a chance if Redemption Island has been abolished and if there aren't too many unfair and obvious HIIs. Anyone know yet if either of this will make a reappearance?

But why the ***** are they in Samoa for the FIFTH time?! Those cheap bastards! You can't even do a simple water challenge because the tide is too strong or whatever. How about spicing things up by filming in unique places with rich cultural history and interesting terrain, rather than bastardising the formula of the show with countless unfair and unnecessary twists?

And who in the world could possibly smoke enough crack to even consider the name "Survivor One World" let alone select it?! When I read that I was literally speechless that this once great and revolutionary show had plunged to such depths of tackiness and unoriginality. It sounds like a charity, for christ's piss!

Anyhow, this season looks to be yet another abject failure on the part of Mark Burnett or whatever goons have been running the show since it took a turn for the cheap and laughable piece of reality trash it is now, but if Redemption Island is gone I'll at least watch the first episode.

May watch this one. Gave the last one a miss after a couple of episodes as I really couldn't get into it.

Roy Mars III 20-12-2011 04:24 AM

Could be good. Does this mean redemption island is gone?

Marc 20-12-2011 07:25 AM

Aw you beat me to the thread!

I'm looking forward to it! But let's be honest it'll just be like when the two tribes have merged

reward challenges > redemption island. X 1000000

And you're acting like Cook Islands wasn't tainted? :joker: My god I hope you've seen the earlier seasons, you can't call yourself a Survivor fanatic if you haven't.

Yes, I've seen every season, bar Redemption Island & South Pacific. And I realize Cook Islands deviated a lot from what Survivor is supposed to be, as I quickly realized when I bought Borneo, Australian Outback, and Pearl Islands on DVD about halfway-through Cook Islands, but it was nothing like the mutt that Survivor has become now. The HII was too powerful, the jury starting before the merge was unfair to any finalist who hadn't lived with that juror, the message-in-a-bottle was rigged, and the final three doesn't really work because one of the three is always just dead-weight (with the exception of China of course ) and although those do make it a pretty poor season, I don't feel it completely betrayed the spirit of Survivor as the last two have.
