Michael Keaton confirms Beetlejuice 2 talks with Tim Burton

Burton was reported to be in negotiations to direct a Beetlejuice sequel in October 2013, with Keaton also tipped to reprise the title role.

Keaton has now revealed to MTV News that he is in fact discussing the project with Burton.

For what it's worth, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav made it clear that the company is going to lean into franchises in the future, and this is a sequel that has been stuck in development hell for ages.

We've also heard rumblings of this coming together behind the scenes, with "Wednesday" star Jenna Ortega said to be in talks to star. Will Tim Burton return to direct? Will Michael Keaton return as the title character? These questions may well have answers very, very soon. But for now, we wait.

The trailer for this might be released tonight, as Michael Keaton and Catherine O'Hara are said to be making some sort of an announcement while they present an award during tonight's Oscars.

Finally. I was starting to feel like Beetlejuice in the waiting room.

…it doesn’t give us much, it’s a mini trailer….but a great cast and it’s enough to draw us in….

…I always get a bit nervous when it’s a movie I’ve loved so much with the first one and then a long, long time in the making of the sequel…and hoping it lives up to…

Clever to use that village toy set
again.

This has massive potential (and the legacy of a fantastic movie to potentially ruin) so I really hope it delivers!

I hope they have a good story for it.
