Also, you've missed the point. Yes, he does realise people change with drink. That's kind of the reason why he thinks they should calm down with it. He has a point.

He's definitely not the most detestable person in that house.
I'm not a huge Gareth fan, but i'd prefer him to stay over most of the others, especially the 2 little boys.
