I don't understand the whole thing. They've shut down Megaupload and arrested people in New Zealand who ran it.... so obviously they already have the power to shut down pirate websites... so why do we even need SOPA and PIPA??

It seems the US government already has enuf power to shut down pirate sites, so they don't need more powers imo.

It's quite confusing. Though I heard the MegaUpload people were being arrested for other crimes in addition to copyright infringement - I'm sure I read somewhere about money laundering :conf2:
