An American perspective on the latest episode of CBB:

Half the housemates might as well be potted plants. The only people that seem to be doing anything on their own accord are the twins. Aside from them, it was entertaining watching Michael talking to himself and love it that Denise was stunned that Michael stayed over Kirk and Natalie. Everyone else is just kind of hanging around. Even Gareth(?) only did something because it was his task to do it.

One of the things I notice is the twins are getting a weird amount of criticism for plotting and playing the game. Why do people fault them for wanting to last a little longer in the house and to save their own necks? Everyone is playing the game even if they don't admit it. It seems to me the rest of house has made a decision to gang up on the Americans and the twins are trying to do something about it. Is it really such a bad thing for them to WANT to advance themselves and get closer to winning? Are they all supposed to be on there and not care about winning? They all care about winning and they are all playing the game and twins seem to be the only ones that are open about it.

You really are coming across very bigoted and a more than a tad Xenophobic.

Apart from that - the twins and Michael have absolutely MADE the show this year.

I didn't want to put it quite so directly - but I have to agree. It's becoming unbelievably tedious.

Not racist at all, just against any form of bullying ,and ALL 3 Yanks this year have been bullies in one shape of form

I try not to get wound up by his comments and, frankly, it's actually kind of easy. I always consider the source and the source is someone who has a smoking baby as his avatar. Clearly not someone to be taken seriously.

karezza 22-01-2012 10:41 AM

The twins may be oapaedos but I love them.

ozzyshaggah 22-01-2012 11:19 AM

Please try to keep to the topic and don't get personal ...

You really are going to flog the 'oapaedos' thing to death, aren't you. It was funny once. Once.

Getting back to the original question.

Having worked overseas in America for 11 years I can see why the original
poster is puzzled by the British reaction to the Twins. In America the
strategic style of gameplay is admired on shows such as 'Survivor'.
However there is a tendancy not to like this in the UK. So it is partly a
cultral preference issue.

Even as strategic players, there are many ways you can do this.
I think the Twins are precieved as playing with a cold ruthless style
that does not come down well.
This is opposite to players such as Yel Kwon on 'Survivor: Cook Islands'
who held on to the respect of his jury members.

Last time i looked this was BIG BROTHER UK,We do not suffer fools gladly ,nor do the majority of the British public like arrogance and downright nastiness, certainly not in Northern UK

Suze 22-01-2012 01:19 PM

It does kind of baffle me. This is the impression I get about BBUK. You have 12 or however many Housemates. They all know that whoever is the last one standing will get a massive cash prize but they're not supposed to want it. They're not supposed to try to get to the end. They're just supposed to be there to enjoy the experience. :conf: This must be the only game where it's a sin to actually try to play the game. The best way to play is to do so subtly.

But, on a high note, if the UK public doesn't like people who are playing the game, then Michael is your winner. I don't think he cares at all if he wins and is content to let whatever is going to happen happen.
