would you have watched it all without michael madsen?

I have to be honest I would have turned it off on opening night

The first impressions of this years show were pretty awful

most of the women looked and sounded almost identical most with the same plastic surgeon and the usual shallow subjects

There was superstar michael madsen, entering the house to many peoples total astonishment

the only other ones who stood as individuals out was frankie and gareth

Kirk was just another leery cheeky chappie, none of the women were interesting or original.

so as the hm's left we got to know each person better and frankly none of the original impressions changed much apart from with frankie and gareth
michael remained the most deep multi faceted complex black humoured ambiguous character.

denise endless misreading of him is embarassing as it is she who has no humour. she just thinks being a bully and a nag is funny, its not. he laughs at himself about the entire fiasco, he is in awe of some of big brothers ingenious tasks. he has told people straight when necessary, hes sung hes danced badly, hes told us some movie anecdotes about pacinos plane and tarantinos direction (we want more BB) unlike everyone else hes not prepared to the show or been coached what to say, he just reacts naturally, his nominations have all been legendary, the ffing spy, the endless denise classics, his frank questioning of natasha , of natalie of gareth, but hes always done that 1 to 1 subtley away from the crowd as he doesnt wish to embarass people...people miss these subtleties

he even sussed out nasty natalie and told her to her face and she still loved him....thats how charismatic he is....the man goes to the toilet wearing a pillow on his head....

hes cried when it makes sense, for alfie, for his kids, even for nicola..not for self pity or attention seeking like so many others...hes been totally open to the experience even when hes feeling grouchy. just to show u americans can be different. when alfie was done with his letter from home and his task and his singing lol madsen gave him a heartfelt bearhug...he discussed it later and admitted it was a once in a lifetime thing to witness and that the experience had changed him and he meant it...the twin ignored it all to paint her nails. typically one dimesnional

I personally can honestly say with no madsen this show wouldnt have even existed to me. lets hope he gets rightful airtime because everything he says is thought out, brutally honest, heartfelt and hilarious...check out his impression later of the patient with the 4 hour erection being rushed to hospital

Yeah I would, I didn't even think he was that good on launch night, thought he would be a bit miserable. He's been ok and his arguments with Denise were quite funny but that's all I can say about him really.

To be honest i couldnt give a crap about who is in the house.
For any BB fan with a brain its more about how BB pluck their strings and mess with them that matter not some teeny i love xxxx housemate and will defend them whatever they do fan rubbish.

OOOOOOOOOO im so a fan of xxxxx housemate"" is so shallow and childish it will be the ruin of BB/CBB

Visage 24-01-2012 07:40 AM

I would watch it regardless of who's in there.

I love the concept of the show and as long as the tasks keep coming and BB dress the celebrities in ridiculous costumes, it's always going to be a hit for me.

the ideas of the show are a crucial factor (there have been some sublime moments like the letter shredder and the japan show etc) but the jedward and other sloppy ideas were poor. the characters in the show are the driving force of the show. to ignore that is to ignore why most people watch it. its the same as great movies, great novels, the story is key but so too is the characterization. a guy like madsen is a legend for a vast number of reasons. hes made 170 movies over decades, some classics, showed massive talent, humour, multiple persoanlities etc hes a writer a producer a poet a director etc

as a hm hes a fascinating observor of the whole machine and the fellow hm's his views on it all will be infinitely more interesting that the others, as like most great people he is thinking about the world around him and not simply dwelling on his own self interests like all the most boring people in life.

he was a hero before fos his screen talents, hes an even bigger one now

Same here, I would watch it regardless of who was in too,of course there are celebs who we would all like to see in the BB house but for me it doesn't matter who is in,I would still be watching it avidly.

Like Botnot says I watch BB because of how it effects people and messes with their heads, I like the scheming and the game playing whether its normal or CBB doesnt bother me, in some ways I like normal BB better...people like Gareth have gone into the house to pick up a check, he doesnt want to provide entertainment, he has treated it as a personal challenge, sit around, be nice, pick up check go home...to be fair apart from Romeo the others have all been good value.

Totally agree - he's had his moments but IMO people are behind him more for his film persona than him.

rSlavenx 24-01-2012 08:45 AM

Minus his arguments with Denise he has contributed very little to the show, he doesn't care whether he wins or not.

Livia 24-01-2012 08:47 AM

I would have watched it anyway, but the fact that Madsen was in it was a bonus because I'm a massive fan.

Patricia4 24-01-2012 08:49 AM

I would of still watched it but Im more pleased to watch it with Michael in there.

Kazanne 24-01-2012 08:52 AM

I'm a people watcher,so i watch BB whoever is in it,then i look for character, flaws, and personality, weigh them up and then I usually pick someone i actually like,I do like Michael and think he has been entertaining ,he is very complex and i quite like that.

karezza 24-01-2012 09:42 AM

Madsen is a humourless killjoy who has misunderstood Denise.

rusticgal 24-01-2012 09:47 AM

Considering he has done NOTHING but moan and sleep.....Yes of course.

He needs a reality check....its not all about having been a good actor...he obviously lost some personality along the way and let stardom go to his head!!!

I did like him at first....but he has disappointed BIGTIME!!

chuff me dizzy 24-01-2012 10:06 AM

Have I read this right OP? "Would i have watched it without Michael" just WHO do you think he is?

Josy 24-01-2012 10:06 AM

No.

smudgie 24-01-2012 10:32 AM

Of course. I love the show rather than who is in it.

Michael would have been gone a long time ago without Denise

Roy Mars III 24-01-2012 11:29 AM

I still would have watched, it would not have been nearly as enjoyable though

robb 24-01-2012 11:38 AM

Yes. In fact I had forgotten all about him. And to me his performance in there has been mixed. The good, the bad, and the downright ugly.

denise is a humourless killjoy who misunderstood michael and everything else in the house and walloed in a drunken haze of self pity and delusions of grandeur....michael has chopped her up more times than his movie victims:devil: he doesnt care about winning but he does care about people and he does care about finishing unfinished business with amazing black hunour and brutal honesty at all times...a legend in the house regardless of his legendary movies...hes miles ahead of all the others
