Bebo Officially Shuts Down.
 

At one stage it was one of their world's biggest social networking site.
But tonight it has very suddenly just closed down, out of the blue.

Literally no news on it at all around the web yet, but damn.

Was it ever actually the biggest social networking site? It was around the same time MySpace was big.

In 2008 lots of magazines were saying it was outdoing MySpace, when MySpace started dieing out.

It only lasted for about a year though in it's 'peak' then Facebook came along.

Yeah MySpace was always bigger but it was more of an American thing and it catered for everyone. Bebo was nothing in America but was big in Britain and huge in Ireland and catered mainly for teens. Really, really chavy, thick teens.

The peak was in 2006 when it was big but before all that app crap came along.

Everyone on FaceBook is pissed off because they didn't give ANY notice at all - so no one had time to get their old pictures off or anything.

And TBH I don't think Bebo was for chavy teens initially, I remember it was used by students alot and people use to use it for Music purposes and sharing photos and all that - but then 'chavy teens' [and I was one of them] jumped on the bandwagon.

Because it was. It was populated with over eager, intellectually challenged knicker stains who got off on being, loud, shiny and thick.
