Abu Qatada- Islamic Extremist

Worrying that this man who is clearly a threat to the British public is going to be out of prison soon and doing the school run, cannot be deported to Jordan because of his human rights and he is scared of being tortured over there for things he did:bored:.

InOne 09-02-2012 02:38 PM

No doubt he will be welcomed back into the Muslim community with open arms here as well.

bbfan1991 09-02-2012 02:42 PM

Yes, allowed to spout his brainwashing nonsense although the majority of Muslims here do get unfair stick because of actions from people like that and they also do not condone any acts of terrorism.

Livia 09-02-2012 02:48 PM

I think it would benefit the Muslim community to be a little more vocal in their condemnation of people like this being released and not being deported. Muslims get plenty of shtick when stuff like this happens, I'd like to see more of them stand up and say they disagree with it.

InOne 09-02-2012 02:58 PM

That's been the main problem for years. Instead of being shunned he's getting handshakes. But some probably don't want to speak out for fear of their own community turning on them.

Livia 09-02-2012 03:10 PM

Well, there are a lot of indocrinated people out there, it's true. But there are also so many professional and educated Muslims, doctors, lawyers, journalists, broadcasters, teachers... people who should surely not feel intimidated by someone who wants to drag his fellow Muslims back to the bleedin' dark ages and want to say so quite loudly.

I'm a Muslim and I hate this bastard too.
All the Muslims I know hate terrorism and condemn the acts of suicide bombers
And its bad to kill others in Islam so these terrorists are deluded, plain as, they do not represent the Muslim community in the slightest, it's just down to the fact that good Muslims aren't in the media a lot so Muslims are just stereotyped.

bbfan1991 09-02-2012 03:23 PM

Yeah they instil fear in and not afraid to outcast people who go against religious beliefs or do not go along in what their family want because basically you are not allowed any say.

Muslims do need to be more vocal regarding this issue and make it clear that these people doing terrorist acts or planning them do not represent their religion as they claim.

Most worrying is when they groom young people and instil so much propaganda into their minds to do such acts...

But you've just said it, Salman. You've made your feelings clear. I can't believe that when you are with other Muslims you would say you support this man.

Soz I think I'm getting mixed up :S

bbfan1991 09-02-2012 03:29 PM

These terrorists are evil, deranged and not only killing people from other religions but some of their own people too.

Of course not all terrorists are Muslims but there is still a worry RE attacks here after what happened in London.

Yes, I see that now from your post above. I know that most Muslims are against him, and that Islam, despite what the extremists and the gutter press would have us believe, is a peaceful religion. I would like to see more of that in the press, more positive attention for the normal, working, law-abiding Muslim and less attention on the Freakin' nutcases. Perhaps I was wrong in saying Muslims should speak out when I should have said that the Media should show more of you speaking out.

Downing Street has confirmed that David Cameron has now spoken to King Abdullah of Jordan regarding the release of radical Muslim preacher Abu Qatada.

Prime Minister David Cameron spoke with King Abdullah of Jordan today as Britain continues to push to have the Islamist cleric deported in order to stand trial in Jordan.

The Prime Minister spoke with the King on the telephone from Sweden, where he is attending a Baltic Nordic conference in Stockholm.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Abu Qatada must not be sent back to Jordan if his return would mean he is tortured in order to obtain evidence for his trial.

The Prime Minister said yesterday that the ECHR's decision was "completely unacceptable".

You do realise that fascism belongs to the right?

Jack_ 09-02-2012 05:12 PM

Not thoroughly clued up on this story...but as far as I've understood it, he is being kept here in the UK as there are fears that if he was sent back to Jordan, he'd face being tortured. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If that is the case...whilst I completely oppose his disgusting behaviour, nobody should be tortured.

Owned.

I don't think it's true that Muslims don't condemn extremism, it seems to be a bit of a misconception, or maybe the problem is they just don't get featured enough. Take a look at this site for instance, containing dozens and dozens of statements by variousm Muslims and Islamic organisations condemning terror attacks http://www.muhajabah.com/otherscondemn.php

It's academically accepted that fascism has been was influenced by both left and right, however paradoxical that may seem.

I agree MTVN. I made a comment earlier that I wished more Muslims would speak out. I went on to say that I should have said I wished more coverage was given to those that do.
