Maternal, or not maternal?

Do you think Lea is just being maternal towards Pete - or more... her relationship with him is getting stronger, I just wondered what you guys thought.

lilmissnaughty 21-06-2006 04:10 PM

I think she finds him attractive, but she's isn't kidding herself by thinking something's going to happen between them.

Dizzy 21-06-2006 04:14 PM

Hmmm, interesting. I wonder if Pete actually heard her speaking to Aisleyne about him when he was in the bathroom

Pipergun 21-06-2006 04:14 PM

I think it's maternal in the sense that it might help her get over the fact that she's not with her son.

I think Pete looks up to her as his mother-figure, but it does get a bit uncomfortable when she goes on talking about his... assets... which shows she is clearly attracted to him, for whatever reason, but I think and hope for all the housemates' sakes that she doesn't take things any further! :blush2:

GlitterEyes 21-06-2006 04:18 PM

I think he is a good substitude for her son and when she needs a hug he is there and vice versa but sometimes Lea seems weird towards him. I think Pete heard everything when in the toilet and that is now why he is very nervous and twitcy around her more than usual.

Dizzy 21-06-2006 04:49 PM

Yeah, I forgot about her having a son... I doubt she'd sit over her own son though for a long time whilst they tried to sleep, she kinda freaks me out when she watches him like he's her prey - whenever Pete turns around she's their and he's like; "wow?"

I think that it is maternal, however if Pete indicated to Lea that he wanted a proper relationship with her - im sure Lea wouldn't resist.

Dizzy 21-06-2006 05:14 PM

Lol, yeah, I'd laugh if she set her sights on Glyn xDDD

Bells 21-06-2006 05:15 PM

Yeah I'd say it's maternal about Pete.

Sunny_01 21-06-2006 05:17 PM

I think it is a little of both maternal instincts and being attracted to him. I think that she is trying to surpress her attraction for him by mothering him constantly

Dizzy 21-06-2006 05:18 PM

D'you think Richard is a fatherly figure to the housemates - he used to be a fatherly figure towards them all, but I'm not so sure now - ever since he and Lea fell apart, Richard has become very much hated by most housemates... ? xS

EmilyJ 21-06-2006 05:18 PM

I don't reckon it's maternal. Leah seems to use maternal to suit her needs. She likes to look good and thinks that by seeming maternal this will work. Leah only cares about herself. How selfish must she be to leave her son to go on a tv show for all those weeks. I don't care how much could win I'm sure her son needs her more. Leah has the serious hotties for Pete. It's scary. She stands no chance.

Foebane100 21-06-2006 05:37 PM

Well at least Glyn has said he fancies Lea.:puzzled: So it could be game on then.

As a mother, my opinion is that it is definitely not maternal. I wouldn't leave my kids for such a long period, but if I was ever in that situation, then someone like Pete wouldn't be any kind of substitute.

The fact that she finds him attractive strikes off any kind of "maternal" connection. I find him attractive, and therefore wouldn't feel maternal towards him at all. You can't have it both ways.

In that situation, I would probably be more likely to feel maternal towards Glyn. 1. Because of his age. 2. Because of his naivety. 3. Because I don't feel the slightest bit attracted to him... and 4. Because he is a bit useless at stuff around the house, and could use practical help.

I just don't buy this maternal thing with Lea & Pete. She would shag him in a heartbeat if he was up for it.

I used to find Lea's possessiveness toward Pete scary and a little weird. She would always push people away from Pete if they were being to close to him. She has told people to leave him alone when he is upset when they have come to see if he is okay. She seems to see her job as the comforter and it is her thing and everyone better not encroach on her territory.

I agree with all of that. *oh no.. we agree again... something's not right! LoL*

Definitely NOT maternal! Mikey was hooked up with Grace, Richard is Gay, Glyn is too inexperienced so Pete appears to be the best option to fulfil her needs.

Dan_ 21-06-2006 10:41 PM

I think she tries to make it out to be maternal but she's actually just using as a way to get close to Pete without actually setting about making a move on him in the normal way. She knows full well that Pete takes a long time over getting to like and get together with someone so perhaps she's making it easiser by being maternal with him so that he builds a bond a trust with her but I think he senses that she might have deeper feelings for him which is making him a bit edgy around her.

Duffryn 21-06-2006 10:41 PM

yes, Pete was the only heterosexual man left, apart from Glyn who she doesnt fancy

Aside from the fact that I think you're spot on based on my own opinions, I think the fact that you're also a mother makes your assessment even more accurate.

Lea, put the boy down!

frogface 21-06-2006 11:28 PM

There is no way that is maternal, i think it is creepy.
