Fine Dining

Other than myself and Incensed, does anyone else like fine dining, hunting around for swanky little bistro's, and sampling the cuisine at quite upmarket and atmospheric restaurants on a regular basis? And do you like hosting dinner parties and concocting some intriguing and tasty menus for your guests?

King Gizzard 21-02-2012 09:47 PM

no. prefer a big dirty greasy pizza

King Gizzard 21-02-2012 09:48 PM

I don't get paying 349849434389 pounds for a little plate of food that doesn't even fill you up

Brother Leon 21-02-2012 09:49 PM

Neither do I. The places I check out usually have adequate size portions so you can enjoy several courses.

I agree to a certain extent, I don't like pretentiousness. But sometimes, it's worth paying professionals, just for the taste extravaganza! Trust me, just try it.

Bollo 21-02-2012 09:52 PM

*puts hand up* I do, there is nothing more satisfying than finding a great little gem of a place that does an eclectic mix of things and has a good atmosphere. The only thing that annoys me is that I have hungry eyes and can never eat all of what I ordered, so I have to just stick to one course and then it takes me to hours to decide what to have cos it all looks so lovely

What price range of "Fine Dining" are we talking about?

Benjamin 21-02-2012 09:56 PM

It doesn't always have to be expensive, some of the better places I have checked out the bill (including wine and drinks) has been £40 per person.

King Gizzard 21-02-2012 10:00 PM

40 pound not expensive?

lol, everyone combined at Nandos hits around that region :amazed:

King Gizzard 21-02-2012 10:03 PM

Haven't had nando's in ages

My idea of fine dining is Harvester lol

MTVN 21-02-2012 10:03 PM

Ah yes, I'm a bit of a regular down the restaurant at the Ritz as it happens

Benjamin 21-02-2012 10:03 PM

Nope, not all. Don't get me wrong, I'll eat in cheaper places too, but I like trying good food.

So true.

Used to be a cracking little Italian nearby - nothing matched: crockery and cutlery were a mish mash of sets over the years, table covers were all different swaths of cloth, service was crackers with a waiter who was like something out of Fawlty Towers; but by god, the food was out of this world.

Was like dining in an eccentric Italian's house: the whole experience was always a delight and hilarious: and the food was to die for. Closed down when the elderly parents passed away. :(

I love fine dining. Do it all the time, well most times I go out I fine dine.

Found the most amazing italian bistro in Singapore this half term. The caprese salad was literally like a gift from god.

King Gizzard 22-02-2012 03:36 PM

Going to harvester tonight, better put on my best clothes

Lee. 22-02-2012 03:46 PM

I don't as much now, but before having kids, I loved fine dining! Nothing beats an evening of good food, fine wine and smashing company!
