The track, which does not feature on the band's 2011 fourth album 'Suck It And See', was posted online in the early hours of this morning (February 27). It will be released as a single on March 2.

The band had previously said that they were planning to release "a new tune" before they undertake a lengthy stint across the USA and Canada as support to The Black Keys on their US arena tour.

The Sheffield band have also released a video for 'R U Mine?', which features them driving through the streets while the track is given its radio debut on California station KROQ.

Arctic Monkeys have announced plans to unveil a new song next month.

The band will include 'Electricity' as the B-side on a special edition release of their latest single 'R U Mine?', which was debuted earlier this month.

The re-release will coincide with this year's Record Store Day on April 21 and come on a limited edition purple vinyl.

'R U Mine?' was released digitally earlier this month as the band's second non-album single and peaked at number 23 on the UK chart.

Frontman Alex Turner recently revealed that the Arctic Monkeys plan to get a headstart on writing their next record while touring the US with The Black Keys this spring
