Adele is set to break David Bowie terms of number of weeks spent at Number One in the UK’s Official Albums Chart this weekend.

The singer's monstrously successful second album '21' is set to achieve its 22nd non-consecutive week on top of the Official UK Album Chart this Sunday (March 5). Taking into account the week her 2008 debut '19' spent at the top, she would then pass David Bowie and Dire Straits's total of 22 weeks. The record is held by The Beatles at 174, while Madonna is the top lady, and the only one now ahead of Adele, with 29.

Emeli Sande is set to be Number Two with her debut 'Our Version Of Events', with Ed Sheeran at Number Three and Lana Del Rey at Number Four. Meat Loaf is set to be new at Number Five with 'Hell In A Handbasket', reports the Official Charts Company.

Whitney Houston's compilation 'The Essential' is set to be Number Eight, with Coldplay at Number Seven and Adele's '19' at Number Nine. The Ting Tings are set to enter at Number 13 with their long-awaited second album 'Sounds From Nowheresville', while The Cranberries are set to be new at 27 with 'Roses'.

In the Official UK Singles Chart, Gotye is set to stay at the top with his track 'Somebody That I Used To Know'.

The Australian is narrowly ahead of Dappy and Queen's Brian May's hook-up 'Rockstar', with Emeli Sande likely to be Number Three with 'Next To Me'.

Flo Rida is set to remain at Number Four, with DJ Fresh at Number Five. Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Clarkson, Matt Redman & LZ7 and David Guetta are set to make up the rest of the Top 10.

Marc 29-02-2012 10:30 PM

What? Didn't LDR get number one?

Joelle. 29-02-2012 10:37 PM

As much as I like the woman and her music, this album is way beyond overrated. Also, doesn't every living organism on the planet own it by now? How is it still climbing? :suspect:

King Gizzard 29-02-2012 11:29 PM

Maccabee's - Given To The Wild was going to be no.1 a few weeks back but they lowered 21's price ridiculously. It's a joke tbh

Marc 29-02-2012 11:38 PM

Oh I thought this was consecutive weeks.

Shaun 29-02-2012 11:38 PM

she did Marc but Emeli Sande got #1 the next week, and Adele got #1 last week because of the BRITs and looks like she will again now.

GypsyGoth 29-02-2012 11:40 PM

The Beatles at 174!!

But that confuses me... did she get like 19 consecutive weeks for '19' then?

Cos Lana was No.1 a couple weeks back was she not?

Marc 29-02-2012 11:43 PM

This whole thing confuses me. And I am now therefore frustrated :hmph:

King Gizzard 29-02-2012 11:44 PM

i've never paid attention to the charts tbh, never

GypsyGoth 29-02-2012 11:44 PM

King Gizzard 29-02-2012 11:48 PM

How do you measure it, shops buy cd's in batches, surely they don't have to report back on every single album sold

Shaun 29-02-2012 11:50 PM

marc... she had a couple of weeks at #1 with 19... and loads with #22...

Marc 01-03-2012 12:01 AM

21*?

This is just further confusing me. I'm gonna die now bye x

Shaun 01-03-2012 12:06 AM

No. Only four million copies have been sold in the UK, which is a really small number considering the entire population of the UK.
