How can one person have so much snot in their body?

Seriously, I have a head cold and I have used 4 Andrex toilet rolls since last yesterday.
Where does it all come from. I think we should be told.

I know how you feel Kate. I have rhinosinusitus and the amount of tissues I used to get through was obscene. I switched to toilet paper in the end and I used to get through a roll of that a day, my nose was so screwed up.

Thankfully I've got pills that stop all that happening now.

It is mucus created by goblet cells in our body in order to trap bacteria and microorganisms trying to attack our body. We excrete a lot when we are ill because the body is trying to flush out the bad bacteria.

They do tell us where it comes from if you study simple biology?
