Channel 4 has announced that Skins will bow out with one final series.

The E4 teen drama has been recommissioned for a special seventh run - made up of three films broken up into six parts - to be broadcast in 2013, Digital Spy can confirm.

Famous Skins characters from the past five years will appear in the 'celebratory' series.

Nicholas Hoult (Tony), Kaya Scodelario (Effy), Jack O'Connell (Cook) and Luke Pasqualino (Freddie) are among those who could return.

"Channel 4 today confirmed that next year's series of E4's teen drama Skins will be its last," the broadcaster said this evening.

"The new series will be a celebration of this truly iconic series, and will go to air in early 2013."

"Skins is a brilliant show which has defined a generation and will go down as a game-changing piece of television," the statement added.

"But after seven series it is time for E4 to make way for the next generation of the bold, the new and the innovative."

Skins, which launched in 2007, is currently airing its sixth series every Monday at 10pm on E4.

About time really. Will definitely tune back in if they get characters from Season 1 and 2 back though

series 1 was brilliant, the rest not so much

sid copied the beanie and glasses off me :laugh:

I didn't think we'd see another generation which is a shame as the current series has been quite strong. I'm guessing they'll use the next series to solve cliffhangers from the previous series. I can see the first film being mainly about Sid and Cassie while the second would be about Effie and potentially Cook and who knows what the third one will be about.

Will tune in for the last series but glad its ending.

4 series too late but yay.

Hope some of the 3rd generation make an appearance

The final series sounds amazing I was hoping theyd do that. Need to know what happened with Sid and Cassie and more of Naomily :amazed:

Series 1 Tony is easily the best character

season 1-2 is classss
season 3-4 is alright
season 5 is ****
this season is pretty classsss
so yeah

I'm sad it's ending. The current series has been great, people just haven't gave it a chance because S5 was awful. Looking forward to seeing all the old characters back though.

If you watch the first episode of series 1 you will know whether you'll like it or not
