Saddest Disney/Pixar moments.

Thought I'd do a quick little rundown of my top ten because...well...I like indulging in fits of tears, it seems. Caution: contains a lot of spoilers

#10: Bambi

Always referred to as one of the saddest movie scenes of all time, but for me it's more frightening than anything. The silence where Bambi begins to comprehend what's happened is the cruelest part.

#9: Toy Story 2

#8: Monsters, Inc.

Awwww.

#7: Finding Nemo

Poor Marlin.

#6: Toy Story 3

Although the furnace scene was pretty intense and is sometimes referred to as the show-stealer, for me it's the ending. It might be a happy one for the franchise and the characters, but it's the sad realisation that those of us who grew up with the trilogy are now adults.

#5: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The first of them all.

#4: The Lion King

Come on. Who didn't cry?

#3: The Fox and the Hound

It has an old woman, it has a goodbye, it has animals, it has a cute farewell song. It ticks all of the boxes, but it's Todd's face as she's driving away that sets me off.

#2: Up

I did want to put this top, and in a way it's arguably one of the greatest stories ever told in such a short time, but although her death is devastating and sets the tone for the entire film, it just can't beat saying bye-bye to a mum. The music changes are so subtle and yet so revealing, and not a word is uttered.

#1: Dumbo

Just thinking about it makes me shiver. Floods, every time.

WHY DID I DO THIS WHY DID I MAKE THIS LIST ASAAAGH.
-goes to get tissues-

but yeah post your own.

Niall 08-03-2012 08:31 PM

When..

Spoiler:

...Wall-E didn't get his memory back that killed me. As did the beginning story bit in Up.

Patrick 08-03-2012 08:39 PM

Toy Story 3 - when the toys all accept death.

Monsters Inc - Boo's goodbye.

SharkAttack 08-03-2012 08:45 PM

Toy Story 3, furnace scene you mentioned when they were all holding hands to perish together. Fox and the Hound, for sure. And tons of scenes in Up.

Last one: Fantasia. I saw it when I was very young in a theatrical re-release, so didn't respect the art at the time. Cried halfway through because I realized nothing else was going to happen except for music and randomized cartoon scenes. http://i395.photobucket.com/albums/p...tial/laugh.gif

All the ones you said + In Finding Nemo when Gill tries to leave Dorrie and she says, please don't leave, I don't want to forget :bawling:
