A woman in the US has revealed that she is being terrorised by a giant turkey, who she has nicknamed 'Godzilla'.

69-year-old Edna Geisler of Michigan said that the bird, who is the size of a car tyre, emerges from nearby woods and lays in wait on her lawn.

The senior citizen told the Detroit Free Press that Godzilla has spent the last two months screeching constantly, and pecking and clawing at her to the point of drawing blood.

"I'm afraid to go out of my house," she said. "I have to go to the post office at 6 o'clock in the morning to avoid him.

"Every time I eat turkey I smile. I'd like to do that to him."

Geisler's loved ones have also been set upon by the ferocious fowl. Her friend Rick Reid came face-to-face with Godzilla when he pulled up in the house's driveway.

"He tried to come right in the door," Reid said. "He bit me on the elbow. He's probably 25 to 30lbs."
