Offbeat Ambitions

Inspired by Kizzy expressing a desire to be a traffic warden in another thread.

Here you go Kizzy, your uniform

Anyone else have any unexpected ambitions, stuff you'd secretly like to do.

(no filth please )

I LOVE IT! People could insult me all day and i wouldn't give a crap...i would get my wage slip out every evening and kiss it! lol

Kate! 29-03-2012 02:30 PM

ha, they could insult you, but at the end of the day you would have had the last laugh :D

Niamh. 29-03-2012 02:30 PM

hhhmmm, Not many offbeat ones, one thing I'd love, is to be called for jury duty, don't know if that would be classed as off beat but I know most people try to get out of it if they are called

Kate! 29-03-2012 02:34 PM

yes, that counts. Anything really you want to post that you'd like to do. I put offbeat as a pun on the Traffic Warden angle...

I got called for Jury Duty a few years back Niamh, but had a holiday booked so was excused. I would have loved to have done though, think it would be a very interesting experience.

Got Jury duty at the start of May you can happily take my place :idc:

Yeah as long as you got an interesting case though, not something boring

Kizzy 29-03-2012 02:37 PM

I have done it, it was ace ...wish it had been somthing a bit more high profile though like a murder...It was a creepy uncle...:/

Depends what you get, could be run of the mill stuff, but could be something more thought provoking. My neighbour did it last summer and sat in on a rape trial. Obviously couldn't discuss it with anyone, but she said it was hard to listen to some of the stuff, it's a big responsibility.

InOne 29-03-2012 02:43 PM

Does everyone have to do jury duty?

Kizzy 29-03-2012 02:45 PM

They pick you off the electoral roll...not sure about dodgy people...you might not have to do it :)

If you get called you do (unless you have a good reason not to) I think it's just a random selection though so you might never be called or you might be called more than once

Novo 29-03-2012 02:45 PM

i tried to think of a good excuse to get out of it at first but then thought **** it may as well do it, the letter was in pink font as well the gayest thing ever

What makes you think I'm dodgy Kizzy?

Novo 29-03-2012 02:48 PM

at least i am doing it before the Euros or the Olympics are on otherwise i'd just not turn up and pay the £1000 fine

Kate! 29-03-2012 02:48 PM

you get your meals and everything and may even stay overnight in a hotel, and reasonable expenses paid as well I think.

 you get fined?!

MTVN 29-03-2012 02:49 PM

Ice cream van man

InOne 29-03-2012 02:49 PM

Jesus £1000! D: Would be good if it was a high profile case though

would rather be out in the sun and not stuck in some sweaty court looking at pictures of someones mutilated body :idc:

Kate! 29-03-2012 03:04 PM

There are potential perks though, when the neighbour I mentioned did her Jury service, the case lasted ages and they had to all be sequestered in a Liverpool hotel, she said the food was awesome and all paid for and the hotel was quite luxurious.

Being stuck in a courtroom in nice weather though, yeah wouldn't like that at all, that's the downside. Also I'd be anxious about reprisals if I had to help convict a rapist or murderer.
