Food/drink you can't eat/drink because of past experiences

..inspired by Boothy in MTM about cider

Once I was at a camp and some phool swapped the sugar with the salt at breakfast, and I ended up putting a load of salt on my shreddies and had a mouthful. Horrible

Now whenever so much as taste shreddies, I genuinely taste salt, bit freaky, but it's psychological I guess

seman wohohohohohohoh ahno ehhh bulmers and potatos..i love chips but i just cant eat mashed up or whatever of potato aw yuck

King Gizzard 05-04-2012 01:48 AM

this isn't a ''I hate this food'' thread by the way, you have to have an encounter/experience why you don't like it :hmph:

Boothy 05-04-2012 01:49 AM

Yeah, cider, Strongbow in particular.

Drank waaaaay too much on leavers' day at school and ended up passing out in my own sick for two hours. Even the smell of Strongbow makes me want to throw up now.

Can't eat cauliflower anymore because of an awful batch I had of it a few years ago in a cauliflower cheese. Shame because it used to be one of my favourite foods as well.

Raspberry sambuca... all I'll say is my vomit was pink.

I once worked in a factory packing bananas. I walked out after 2hrs and have never eaten a banana since.

I used to love bananas

jager is a bit of a hit and miss for me

This is kind-of the opposite to this thread, but whenever I'm sick (like throwing up everything-sick) the best cure for me is soft ice cream... I was on holiday in Cornwall one time and it was the only thing I kept down (including a glass of water, and some bread)

When I was younger there was this thing in our fridge that looked like grape juice, so I asked my brother if it was grape juice and he was like "Yeah, It is."

I poured like a whole glass of it and drank some and it was tea.
I spat it out it was disgusting :bored:

I cant eat cheesecake anymore because when my nephew was little he got in the fridge and he found an off cheesecake, and got it everywhere and ate it too, the smell was horrible, that was years ago, even the smell of it makes me feel sick..

I can only think of milk right now. When I was little there would be so much greasy residue after we finished the milk that the milkman brought over that I felt sick. Also it gave me terrible after taste. That is why I have been strictly soya since.

..Dairylea slices...I had far too many once..at a birthday party..I can't even smell them now...without feeling nauseous

Marc 05-04-2012 08:15 AM

Tequila....

I don't like Duck either, not really a bad experience but when I ate it, I disliked it :suspect:

Marc 05-04-2012 08:15 AM

I knew someone who once ate a whole tub of butter, and they were put off for good!

Vanessa 05-04-2012 08:16 AM

Red wine. I got really drunk on it once! :blush2:

Vicky. 05-04-2012 10:08 AM

Southern comfort. Used to be my fave drink until one day after work I was feeling down and necked a hole bottle straight. Now I cant even smell the stuff without feeling ill :bored:

I have recently got over my fear of eating egg yolk too. When I was about 6/7 I ate an egg that gave me salmonella. I conviced myself that it was the yolk rather than the white (I dont kno if this is the case or not) and up until a few months ago I would eat fried eggs but leave the yolk...oir if making them myself I would only make the white.

LemonJam 05-04-2012 11:35 AM

Tbh if I gave up on a drink every time I got too drunk on something I'd be tee total by now.

Sushi - Almost puked up when I tried it. Right in the middle of a restaurant

Jesus. 05-04-2012 11:50 AM

I don't eat chicken soup anymore because I had a tin when I was about 6 and then got chicken pox a few days later. Obviously, being a rationalist, I know that those two things are not related, but I refused to eat it for so long, that subliminally I can't eat it.

Bollo 05-04-2012 12:25 PM

Gammon - once had a bit with a bit of gristle that was so hard it was like bone
Custard - From school dinners used to be served all conjealed with a hard skin on it
KFC - had one where grease literally cascaded out of it
Creme Eggs - easter excitment ate a whole pack in one go and then threw up
Toblerone - cracked my back tooth when trying to bite a bit off
Olives - bit into one not realising they had stones in
Pork pies - had one once that was 70% gelatin inside bleurgh

Doogle 05-04-2012 12:43 PM

Olives. I was 2 and puked all over Asda and I can't bring myself to try one because I feel sick :joker:
