I have been saying this for donkeys years. Women (and men) who accuse others of rape when it is a lie and utter fabrication: should be named, shamed and jailed.

I for one am glad to hear this.

These idiots have no idea of the damage that it causes - the untrue gossip mongering alone is enough to tarnish an innocent person for life -it can destroy even the most stongest of people / their familes/ relationships and friendships.....and it's a disgrace that any person should ever be put in this position.

She should be jailed for as long as a rapist would be, crying rape can destroy lives and even if it's proven false the victim's image will always be tarnished by it.

I'd say that all things being equal: the accusation is as equally damaging in all manner of ways.

Not having been raped, or accused myself - I can't answer on a personal level but I know a man who was wrongfully accused and I know of a female friend who was raped - and both still have never recovered fully - but the effects on the man were far wider reaching - with far less sympathy for him: he was engaged to be married at the time. These people were 21 and 16. The guy tried to take his own life. The woman didn't. So who knows unless we're in that positon on a personal level.

A travesty for the man wrongly accused, and an insult to every woman who has ever been raped.

An even worse insult to women who have been raped: with their rapist being let off. That must be one of the most hellish things ever to have to experience.

I agree, this woman deserves condemnation for lying and the man deserves justice for being wrongly accused, although for those women telling the truth about being raped it leaves them more terrified about coming clean because they think they will not be believed and plus there is the accused representation wanting to try and prove the accusations wrong, lots of pressure and emotional stress.

100% correct Dezzy, this is the other side of the coin and it is also the reason some women get treated with suspicion as to rape allegations because of women like this who tell blatant lies.

Men get their names usually splashed all over the pages of papers when accused of rape and it's good to see real justice being dished out to this liar, however as you point out rightly, the sentence should have been far harsher.
