Would you watch a film if it was subtitled?

I know some people who just point blank refuse to watch a film if it has subtitles. I know you have to concentrate more on the screen, but would it bother you? And I mean an actual film. Not just some random foreign porn flick.

Benjamin 24-04-2012 01:04 AM

Yes, it doesn't bother me at all. Dubbed films annoy me however.

Locke. 24-04-2012 01:06 AM

It puts me off them before I watch them, but once the film is actually on am not too bothered

Roy Mars III 24-04-2012 01:13 AM

Yea, can't watch dubbed stuff

Jords 24-04-2012 01:17 AM

Of course Ive seen a few foreign films recently were quite good I think subs makes you pay attention to detail.

MTVN 24-04-2012 01:24 AM

Yeah I'm normally fine with them

Mystic Mock 24-04-2012 02:07 AM

I watch Japanese Animes with subtitles on so yes I could easily watch a Film with subtitles.

At the end of the day if a story is good then I will watch it, why should I let subtitles put me off?

I hate Dubbed, they sound all cutesy and nothing like the character is suppose to be like.

Niall 24-04-2012 05:56 AM

Of course. If it was dubbed though, I couldn't watch it. The audio not being in sync annoys the hell out of me.

Vanessa 24-04-2012 06:33 AM

I hate subtitles, but if a movie is good i'll watch it anyway. :)

InOne 24-04-2012 06:46 AM

Don't mind at all

Redway 24-04-2012 06:50 AM

Yeah. I don't mind subtitles at all.

Vanessa 24-04-2012 06:56 AM

I find them a bit distracting!

Visage 24-04-2012 07:25 AM

Yes definitely. I always find after around 10 minutes you don't feel the distraction, the subtitles come across naturally. (Unless it's a really bad film)

Shaun 24-04-2012 07:31 AM

Can't watch dubbed. And even though subtitles require total concentration, I don't mind them at all. Some of my favourite films are in foreign languages - Amelie, Goodbye Lenin, Das Leben der Anderen, Battle Royale...

Yeah, subtitles OK, dubbed dreadful .....

MTVN 24-04-2012 11:44 AM

The Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo dubbed is actually really good, could barely tell the difference, I saw a dubbed version of Come and See though and it was awful, voices sound stupid and were completely out of sync

Black Dagger 24-04-2012 12:52 PM

Yes.

Although I never really have the paitience.

Pyramid* 24-04-2012 08:08 PM

Yes and I have done. Does detract a little but seen some good ones (not that good that I can't actually recall the titles !!)

I agree... I thought the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was so well-dubbed I kind of forgot about it.

King Gizzard 24-04-2012 08:22 PM

Yeah, I remember having to watch Il Postino for my a-levels and actually quite enjoyed it, actually forgot the subtitles for a bit, it just seemed like a part of it

Ramsay 24-04-2012 08:26 PM

i watch everything with subtitles anyway so yes of course

Harry! 24-04-2012 08:26 PM

Yes definately, I ALWAYS have subtitles on when I watch TV so it doesn't matter too much for me. But only on DVD's though. I would hate it at the cinema.
