Newspapers you trust or respect.
Are there any?
With so many scandals lately about the hacking of voicemail messages of celebrities and other public figures, not to mention the already pretty desperate and sickening front pages of some of the tabloids (WHITNEY'S DEATH BATH springs to mind), which newspapers or political magazines do you respect? I'm interested since journalism's an area I want to work in (although not necessarily political journalism), and it's pretty common for 'journalist' to be treated as a dirty word. Personally, I can't find anything faulty about the tactics and research made by the Guardian. They're the newspaper I usually go to most if I want to read one. The Metro, too, doesn't seem to have much in the way of political bias. |

I really like The Metro. :)

I use different papers for different sections. I mean the sun is good if you wanna know what Jordan's ****ing but it has no substance. I use The Irish Times or Evening Herald.

Metro/Guardian
I love my free metro on the bus. All other papers are vile. |
I think the Independent is pretty good, they try and offer views from across the spectrum and don't just attach themselves to one view or party, and they often highlight issues that go ignored too. I like their coverage of world news as well, and Robert Fisk writes for them and that man is a genius

Yeah I like the Independent too. I think I just get bored by them sometimes.

Guardian I or metro

The Independent and The Guardian, my general rule of thumb is that the Broadsheets tend to be the most trustworthy and not as hateable as others. Tabloids are the devil.
|
I've never really read the Guardian, though I'm aware of it having a much better reputation than any of its' rivals. The Metro is good, I read that a fair bit.

Metro/Local paper/Guardian/Telegraph.

The Independent for me,I don't trust newspapers though.
|
I don't really read papers, but if I were to pick one I'd probably go for the Guardian or the Independent. They both seem to be the most respectable.
|
I don't like Newspapers much but if I had to pick then I would vote for The Sun as finding Karen Matthews after the stupid Government was wrongly protecting her is classic.
|
The Guardian. Always find it makes me think about things and isn't full of the shouty, in-your-face, reactionary nonsense that tabloids like the Daily Mail and The Sun bring you. Don't always buy the paper but their website is great, and the Comments section is a great read. Oh, and they have Charlie Brooker as a columnist...so that's good enough for me.
i is a quick, easy and enjoyable read, and I particularly like how they have the 'Views' page where they have little snippets of different paper's views of stories from the week around the world. |

I read a wide variety of newspapers during the course of my job, both locals and nationals, and I can honestly say I don't trust or respect any of them.
|
I trust none.
I respect none |
I stopped buying newspapers years ago the internet made them irrelevant a long time ago.
