Retired man builds four-storey 'pirate' getaway to escape wife and daughters..
Retired manager Keith Brown has found a novel way of escaping family tension - building a four-storey pirate-themed cave in his garden as a getaway.
Spoiler: Spoiler: Sitting in a garden shed watching a black-and-white TV used to be enough for men wanting some peace and quiet. But Keith Brown needed something more – so he built a four-storey man cave in his back garden. The retired WHSmith manager spent 20 years crafting the pirate-themed hideaway, which includes a bar, dance floor, electric drawbridge, crow’s nest and working cannons. While it may seem as if he is trying to keep out rival pirates, it is his wife and two daughters who pose a bigger threat. ‘They can strip paint with their tongues from 20ft away,’ the 63-year-old said. ‘If there is too much arguing, I just raise the drawbridge, sit in the Caribbean drinking hut and listen to music.’ Mr Brown, of Selsdon in Surrey, said guests prefer to spend time in the fully insulated and damp-proof hut – called The Retreat – rather than his five-bedroom detached house. His wife, Carol, said: ‘I’ve got used to it – it is just part of the house now.’ |
It took him 20 years to build that pile of crap??

A toddler could make that in an hour.

Leave him alone, he's a legend among men, I'm gonna get a pirate outfit and go visit this retreat, we shall talk about the times we sailed the seven seas!
