I'm a little unsure...

About Big Brother since it's move. I'm not sure what's going on, but it just seems so unorganised to me. I don't know if it's because of the channel change, but I'm really finding it hard to get back into watching it. It seems that Channel 5 are just playing around with Big Brother when it's a really important TV programme. I know change is good, but I think the changes they are introducing to the show aren't beneficial for this programme. I don't know. Does anyone agree with me?

If it doesn't pick up this summer, then I think I'm gonna have to stop watching it! :conf:

Mrluvaluva 04-05-2012 12:39 AM

I think Channel 4 took it a lot more seriously and put more into it, although I feel that waned in the last few years of it's life with them. There has been a lot of changes, since the switch of channels, and not all for the better. It will be interesting to see what happens with it this year.

AJ. 04-05-2012 02:08 AM

They've removed almost everything that made it special/separate from the rest & added literally nothing.

It's astounding how they can spend so much money yet take so little care & make such obvious vital mistakes.

King Gizzard 04-05-2012 02:12 AM

I just find it a little more tacky. I don't like how small the set and I miss Davina purely for the fact she was always more of a celebrity then Brian was. I miss having weirdos, and people that actually auditioned instead of all these people last year that had agents get them in. I miss BBLB and BBBM no matter how much it sucked because I just loved that routine every night.

Rosy 04-05-2012 10:25 AM

I disagree with certain points made as if you watch back some of the first programmes it was on a much much cheaper, smaller scale than it was last year.
I didn't enjoy Big Brother 11, the last one on Channel 4, as I thought it had terrible housemates and didn't like or dislike any of them enough to continue watching, it is the only one that I have missed.
I thought last years was great to watch though I agree that it was lacking in older more interesting housemates, and have enjoyed the Celebrity Big Brothers too that Channel 5 have so far had.
I agree about Brian though as I feel there is such a void without Davina.
Brian just isn't good enough as a presenter on the main show and would be better suited to BBBOTS. The previous presenters were all fantastic with Russell Brand, Dermot and Davina and that is what I feel Channel 5 would be best to address.

It's because all they care about is Celebrity Big Brother, and running the original Big Brother into the ground.

No it won't - because it's going to be the exact same as last year. That's the thing with Big Brother 2.0 - it's all the same, same eye, same house, same tacky humour, same dull tasks, same editing, same titles etc

Nothing is different about a series anymore - that's why it's lost it's uniqueness, honestly if you look at CBB8, BB12 and CBB9 they pretty much all feel like one big series.

The ******ing dullards brought back live feed in January - it became the highest rated show on 5* in history, and now they've took it away again for Summer? I'm sorry, I can't take morons like that seriously and I'm not sure why they think they're fit to run a ******ing show that use to mean something to people.

Niamh. 04-05-2012 10:50 AM

I really enjoyed it I have to say, for me the only thing it was lacking was live feed.......I may not watch a whole lot of live feed but knowing it's there is reassuring in a way that they can only edit so much.

Also, the messing around with nominations bothered me but tbf every year there is something that I'm not happy about and somethings that I am........even when it was on C4. I'm just glad we still have it tbh.

Jordan. 04-05-2012 11:30 AM

Yeah they've pretty much undermined it. When it was on C4 despite the falling ratings it was still one of the 'big shows' that had a lot of hype/speculation before the launch, C5 seem to have took all of that away.

Utah 04-05-2012 12:25 PM

I hate to sound like Cassandra but as I sid to the Producers you need better HMs. Last year a programme on fox cubs had more viewers than BB Speaks volumes, n'est pas?

Stu 04-05-2012 12:33 PM

It's simply a daft television show now. When it was on Channel 4 it wasn't a television show, it was more this network dominant, Channel 4 house some nutters were living in. It shared the same font as the Channel 4 font, ran live alongside whatever else was airing, and sort of took over the channel multiple times a day with it's sister shows, spin offs etc.

The tone of it being this creepy post modern opportunity to spy on people is gone. It's now some bizarre Channel 5 parody that retains very little of the original components of what made the original show so great. I've noticed that the majority of people who don't mind are the ones who roll around in Reality TV to begin with. The unhinged weirdos like me who hate Reality TV but made an exception for Big Brother have jumped ship.

This

The next series is a month away and there's just been no hype over it. All the news has just been about who's going into Celebrity Big Brother etc. and the normal series is being completely dismissed. I'm not even excited about it now like I usually would be because all of the original concepts of Big Brother and things to get excited about have been completely destroyed by Channel 5.

I am not having a laugh at all. Whether they had 1M or 10M it doesn't change the fact they they still put more into it. I wasn't even talking in monetary values anyway. I think everyone is aware CH 5's budget is a lot less.

Jordan. 04-05-2012 01:18 PM

C5's budget can't be that bad when they forked out a million just for Jedward :bored:

Stu 04-05-2012 01:21 PM

BB10 was done for like a tenner and it was super duper.

That was because the HMs carried the whole show though, had C4 put a bit more effort in to it, it could have been the best series of all. BB11 was a pile of crap.

Patrick 04-05-2012 01:35 PM

I don't think there was anything wrong with the BB12 lot either, I think I might of liked them more than MOST of the BB11 Housemates - yeah they were young, shallow, fake, looking for fame etc but there was alot of great moments provided by them - I remember that week were they partied alot, got pissed every night, threw the matresses in the pool, wrecked the house and just had great banter.

Had that of been a few years ago, Highlight shows like that would of got alot of ratings. The BB12 cast did need more variety I agree entirely, infact all the great series like BB7, BB9, BB10 etc had mixed housemates - the main reason BB12 'failed' is because it aired right after CBB8 and I'm going to stand by that.

The majority of viewers got annoyed because their beloved Jedward, Amy Childs, Lucien and Kerry weren't in the house anymore - so deemed the original show 'dull' and 'boring' and barely anyone gave it a chance.

And then of course, Channel 5 didn't exactly help matters by being ignorant and ignoring fans, barely making a deal out of it etc

If they were going to start taking Big Brother seriously, then where's the news and speculaiton? It's May - May was always the month on TiBB were Big Brother news came in, gossip was spreading, the forum became alive again, the new eye was weeks away, house pictures were approaching, we'd stay up until midnight waiting for press releases etc

All of that is gone now. And it's just a great ******ing shame, because no matter what amazing and unique housemates they put in this summer, we aren't going to get that 'Pre Series' feeling back, and that was a major part of what made Big Brother IMO.

Agree completely. If they had of threw in some better tasks, and I mean the BB10 tasks were that pathetic and embarrassing - they should of just refrained from even giving them tasks, because they were that awkward to watch. Twists would of been good too, but that's why I love BB10 - the housemates carried that series on their back.

Niamh. 04-05-2012 01:40 PM

I think having them all under 30 was an interesting thing to do, It hadn't been done before either so I enjoyed that. Having said that, I wouldn't want it every year either, I did miss the variety of HMs.

And I agree Paddy, they really need to listen to what the fans want a bit more.........give us some live feed especially, even if it's just for a few hours a day.

Mystic Mock 04-05-2012 04:46 PM

I knew C5 wasn't going to take BB seriously when they took it's concept away and only kept the Highlight show and that awful spin off.

InOne 04-05-2012 04:54 PM

The whole concentrating on the celeb version is worrying me. The celeb HM's are getting worse and it's just an excuse to throw a load of TOWIE and MIC lot in together and hope they shag. The normal series was great last year but the manipulation and crappy editing let it down. Even the last CBB one was pretty good, but that was the HM's that made it, all very lazy on Ch5's part. I feel Ch5 BB has already had it's peak (albeit a small one) and will now just get progressively worse.

Oh maybe that's why it was so crap.

Live feed is needed :pipe:
