As ratings fall, Kylie and Cheryl called to help boost them

The two pop stars will parachute into the ailing show in a bid to bolster ratings by performing for the semi-final on May 26 and final on June 2.

The move comes with all the judges facing the axe after ratings plummeted by another TWO MILLION and BBC bosses called crisis talks. Last Sunday’s show was watched by just 6.9million, down a huge 2.1million from the previous week’s 9million.

The week before that the ratings were 11.3million.

A BBC insider told The Sun: “If the show keeps bleeding two million viewers a week, serious changes are needed at the highest levels and no one is safe.”

The BBC bought The Voice format for £22million and just last week Sir Tom Jones boasted he and his fellow judges Jessie J, Will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue would be back next year.

To add to the Beeb’s woes, ITV1 rival Britain’s Got Talent’s ratings soared to 10.8million as its live semi-finals started on Sunday.

Now bosses are bracing themselves for another pasting this weekend as the BGT final airs.

A source said of The Voice: “It’s the first year of the show and clearly it needs some tweaking.”
That's the best they could come up with? Does Kylie even have a single at the moment? :conf:

Aren't they comparing Sunday's shows ratings to that of the Saturday show here

I read they are trying to get Adele on the show too. Jessie J apparently branded the show "lame".

Adele would probably bring ratings, Jessie's sort of right, the show is lame ..they keep overrating all the acts as talent the world must see but tbqh we'll have all forgotten their names this time next month :joker:

Omg 6.9 million :o

Anyway why do BBC need ratings? They don't advertise and get the tv license money so can someone enlighten me please as to why they are panicking so much

to be honest, bringing in kylie and cheryl might bring the ratings up but it won't be fans of the show flooding in to watch, so it's just artificial numbers to show they're doing well. When in actual fact they should be focusing on making the show more appealing and the talent in the show better. All smokes and mirrors

Kylie yes by all means but please no, not Ms Cole. Please don't spoil the voice by having her guest on it.

Black Dagger 08-05-2012 10:17 PM

Yes, because Cheryl is very credible on a show like 'The Voice' :bored:
