Judicial Dilemma

You are a Judge presiding over the trial of an alleged bank robber, who you know is innocent. However, something terrible in your life has happened: The enemies of the robber have kidnapped your 9-year-old daughter and have held her hostage. You don’t know where she is. The police have tried to locate her to no avail. The kidnappers have left you an anonymous note saying that if you convict the robber, they will set your daughter free. You fear the kidnappers could be abusing or even torturing your child. What would you do?

I would convict the robber.

It sounds cruel but I would sentence the robber as god knows what they could do to the little girl if I didn't.:joker:

Convict her and then tell the police after my daughter is returned.

Convict the robber, definitely.

Then (if possible) inform the police or whoever of the situation as soon as my kid was safe again. if thats not possible (as thats a bit of a cheat given the dilema side of things  ) then I would forever feel guilty for an innocent person being in jail because of me, but I could lvie with it, as if that wasnt happening, my child could be dead.

yeah, I'd feel the guilt for sure. But the safety of my child would by far outweigh this.

Isn't it up to the jury to decide whether or not he's guilty?
