Lady Gaga admitted she was nervous filming a part for the 23rd season finale of The Simpsons, which celebrated its 500th episode in February.

The Simpsons is the longest-running prime-time scripted programme on US TV and is contracted to run for another two seasons.

The episode entitled 'Lisa Goes Gaga' is being shown on 20th May in America and features Lady Gaga visiting Springfield to cheer up Lisa.

Lady Gaga, who is embroiled in a row about her upcoming tour of Indonesia, said: "I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor. I would say this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. My dad’s probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out."



Yeardley Smith, who voices Lisa Simpson, told Broadway.com about the pop star's appearance on the show, claiming: "This is extraordinary! I'm stunned that she has time in her schedule that she's coming to our studio to record."

In previous interviews, Lady Gaga has said: "I play a little bit of a slut. The apple doesn't fall far from my artistic tree."

Thought she'd end up on there at one point. Well at least they've not got Bieber on there yet.

I genuinely don't know who is still watching The Simpsons, I feel like it's lost its spark.

I watched some recent episodes and I thought it was on the upturn. Nothing compares to the first 10 seasons or so but it's getting a bit better then it was a few years back when it was completely atrocious.

I'm looking forward to it. I have to say that the Simpsons just feels completely soulless in latter episodes.
