The most annoying misspellings?

Mine has to be when people misspell 'definitely' as
'definately' or 'defiantly'

GypsyGoth 10-05-2012 10:16 PM

I get annoyed with my own misspelling.

Other peoples don't bother me at all, once I can make out what they mean.

Scarlett. 10-05-2012 10:17 PM

pepel spel stuf stewpidley

Lol, but I pretty much agree with the above, my own misspellings do my head in, sometimes I have to use alternate words when I can't recall the right way to spell something.

This. I think it bothers me so much because until I was like 9 I used to always spell it wrong until my teacher taught me the right way, so since then I feel really superior to everyone because I know how to spell it.

Kizzy 10-05-2012 10:23 PM

pedantic...oops! i spelt it correctly...

Vicky. 10-05-2012 10:35 PM

I have absolutely no grounds to complain about ANYONES spelling. Mine is bloody awful. 9 times out of 10 I have to edit...and anyone who has ever seen me in a chatroom (especially shaun who has corrected me about a dozen times in plug over the past 2 weeks)will testify that I probably have worse spelling than a 2 year old :joker:

mrlecturer 10-05-2012 10:37 PM

Everytime and Alot. :D

Saph 10-05-2012 10:39 PM

Smithy 10-05-2012 10:41 PM

You're.

The worst one is when people use "of" instead of "off" or "have".

Could have, would have, should have, might have. NOT OF. *twitches*

nicole_burks 11-05-2012 03:38 AM

You're and Your
They're, Their, and There

are the most annoying imo.

nicole_burks 11-05-2012 03:38 AM

Oh and "accept" and "except"

Ammi 11-05-2012 03:42 AM

..I constantly do the most simple one and have to edit it
..nad instead of and

..I have some sort of mental block about that word

..you need to be a little bit more tolerant though Shaun...and stop telling them to '**** of' when they do it

Jords 11-05-2012 03:47 AM

Dont get annoyed at all life is too short to get pissy over it

Ammi 11-05-2012 03:49 AM

I'd agree, until I think of seeing words like 'videe' (video). You know what I mean - that not getting pissy - that's someone taking the piss. ;)

Niall 11-05-2012 06:26 AM

Not really a misspelling I suppose, but it really irritates me when people use the wrong "their", "they're" or "there" in a sentence. :bored:

I think many don't know the difference tbh.

Using 'of' instead of 'have' grates me. So too are those who don't know the difference in when to use 'of' and 'off'.

Basic English - but then again, we are on a forum, it's hardly a matter of life or death: but some mispellings and typos can be innocently very amusing.:spin:

I definately spell that incorrectly all the time. I know how to spell it, but my fingers won't do what the brain instructs it to. :spin:

When people use you're when they should use your. ;) :D

Tee heee....

..it's strange how you know how to spell something and yet still continue to spell it incorrectly..I do that with quite a few words and sometimes I have to look up words in the dictionary even though I know how to spell them...
..if I submit a post and then realise it has a spelling mistake, I have to edit it but sometimes I don't notice before someone could have quoted it and it drives me crazy thet the incorrect one is still there...OCD lol
