56 up

Looking forward to this, the original social experiment. It follows a group from their birth in 1964 through their lives, catching up with them every 7 years.

This is really interesting, I'd never heard of it before. Kinda like a real life Truman Show!

Kizzy 13-05-2012 11:23 AM

Yes, how amazing would it be to have a record of your life like that?...The happy and sad times, something to show the grandkids eh? haha

I remember watching a show on this about 2 or 3 years ago (???) - it was pretty interesting.

I think back to people I knew in school, here and abroad - the ones that everyone would have thought were really going to 'be' something - who ended up working in Woolies with 4 rug rats around their ankles by the time they were 21 (no offence to anyone here btw).... and then the ones who you thought were going to be Monday Morning Book jobs / single parents with no hope .... who actually ended up being Diplomats working for the British Embassay in faraway lands. It's lovely to see the underdogs actually coming out on top sometimes. :)

Life is indeed surprising and a wonderous sight to behold at times.

It is, the show has been a double edged sword though for some, one, Peter was a teacher in the 1984 edition,he was hounded out of his job due to his comments against margret thatcher ....

My psych teacher was like YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT USES SO MUCH WHAT WE TALK ABOUT!!!!!!

So I shall watch. Would be interesting to have seen it from when they were 7 and how they changed and all that.

We watched half of 7 Up (the first one) in Sociology back in September, it was quite interesting. Don't remember many of the people though and haven't seen any of the others which is a shame, but I'll be watching anyway.

My life should of been recorded like this, Honestly.
Endemol should of had a contract waiting for me, when I came out of the womb - to follow me about from birth to death.

Patrick: there's danger that that may set off a mass suicide mission in the UK !! Endomol haven't quite hit the self destruct button yet - I know they are trying hard with the way BB is going.....but all the same.... :D

Something made me smile about what was mentioned about one of the females being ''The first one in our family to go to University". How true that was not that long ago really: yet these days: it's so common and standard for students to progress to University, pretty much as standard.

arista 14-05-2012 08:31 PM

Typical
The Squatter became a LibDem Council Man.

Bitter as hell.

Peter! what the hell happened you were such a visionary...And now you work for the DWP...Talk about selling your soul to the devil! :(

Jack_ 14-05-2012 09:26 PM

Great show tonight. I recognised some of the people from the original 7 Up and it was very weird, but very interesting to see how they'd turned out.

Felt quite sorry for the guy who became homeless. Oh, and I liked the guy who slagged off Margaret Thatcher many years ago.
