Adele to re-release 21 with new tracks

Adele is reportedly planning to release a repackaged version of her hit album 21.

The singer's label XL wants a special edition of the record-breaking LP in stores by Christmas to help it become the biggest-selling album of all time in the UK.

21 was recently named the fifth best-selling album in UK history after overtaking Michael Jackson's Thriller by shifting 4,274,300 copies.

Queen's Greatest Hits currently holds the top spot, having sold six million copies. XL bosses hope to beat this by re-releasing 21 with new bonus tracks.

"A repackaged album is currently being discussed," a source told the Daily Star Sunday.

"It's not yet confirmed that it will feature new material or songs that didn't make the original album but it makes sense to bring it out."

21 has spent 23 weeks at number one on the UK album chart.

Adele recently claimed that she will release a new song by the end of the year.
This album is so overrated

Tom4784 13-05-2012 11:53 AM

Oh **** off you overrated harpy.

Doogle 13-05-2012 11:54 AM

Just no. She is amazing and her voice is wonderful, but there are plenty of people out there who have really special singing voices and it seems like everyone's acting as if Adele is the best singer ever to live. This is just not needed.

Oh that and 21 really isn't that fantastic.

Isn't she even annoying herself by now? :bored:

Would a re-release still count towards the originals sales numbers?

Either way, it's guaranteed to sell millions.

Yeah, all re-releases do.

Black Dagger 13-05-2012 12:00 PM

I liked her in 2008... she's getting on my nerves now :bored:

Firewire 13-05-2012 12:02 PM

Oh, God. Adele, please, go away for a few years.

Loukas 13-05-2012 12:17 PM

omg, no way! It has been at the top of the album charts for like 20341 months and now she wants to re release it!? No she should save those songs and just release a brand new album

Saph 13-05-2012 12:19 PM

and yet she claims to not want fame

Seems to be more about the money than the fame.

Can't blame her.

She undoubtedly will, she seems to be the kind of artist who actually goes away and lives life for a while before she even thinks about recording a new album. You need experiences to draw upon if you're going to be a good songwriter IMO.

Personally I'm pleased for her, I hope a re-release does well and continues to add to her success. She fully deserves it.

Good old Adele

Mrluvaluva 13-05-2012 01:35 PM

It will be her record company trying to get the most out of it, and why wouldn't they? A lot of artists release deluxe or "platinum" versions these days. I think she is a great artist and I would certainly buy it.

Although I would rather have a new album.

Jords 13-05-2012 02:06 PM

nty

Niall 13-05-2012 02:16 PM

Oh for crying out loud. What an obvious attempt for extra sales for her already massively overrated album.

She has a great voice, and 21 was nice but make album at the least rereleasing is just so lazy. :bored:

i like adele but if i hear someone like you again i will scream !!

reece(: 13-05-2012 02:34 PM

why would she add to it, she's not 21 anymore...

Z 13-05-2012 05:11 PM

British people are so annoying sometimes. We love to build up underdogs and then moan when they become successful. Can we not just celebrate the fact that the Brit school actually produced a successful, talented artist who has achieved worldwide fame for once? It's not Adele's fault that her music's everywhere!

Jords 13-05-2012 05:13 PM

-never saw Adele as an underdog-

I remember MrGaryy (it might have been on MSN though) saying she'd never be successful with her comeback etc just before she premiered Someone Like You on Jools Holland back in like November 2010 or whenever it was, and people were going on about the curse of the second album and generally had no faith in her to produce the goods. Then it spread like wildfire and before you knew it everyone was saying she needs to go away. She's hardly Rihanna chucking an album out every year with a single every month.

21 and then some haha

Jords 13-05-2012 05:21 PM

Quite the opposite with me I loved Someone Like You, wanted it to do really well then it got played everywhere and pissed me off. Nowadays I like it again though.

But its a problem with all these female artists... Rihanna is getting quite a backlash from previous fans (Niall :idc:), Perry, Gaga... but I do think on a whole 21 is a very overhyped album... only SLY and RITP really stand-out to me - wise choices of single. A few other tracks are nice but then quite a few are bland, samey and do nothing.

I hate the idea or rereleases and much prefer a new album, 21 is still topping the charts so no need for a rerelease.

I think a lot of you are missing the point though. They're doing this to make the maximum possible profit out of this album - and why shouldn't they? It's been selling millions of copies. If people are buying it, why not give it another push whilst Adele's getting ready to record an entirely new album? No point in doing absolutely nothing.
