It takes a lot for a rapper to say a thing like that, good on him.

Z 15-05-2012 04:08 PM

Good on him for standing up and saying it. It's not an issue I feel strongly about but I do think the bigoted things people in America come out with are shockingly outrageous for a country that proclaims to be this land of freedom and opportunity.

Black Dagger 15-05-2012 04:22 PM

I've always liked Jay-Z, not his music, because it doesn't appeal to me, good for him for standing up though, if only the rest of the world followed.

Kanye stood up for gay rights like 6 years ago. He's a bit late.

How many gay artists do you have signed to your label Jay????

Doogle 15-05-2012 04:28 PM

This is cool, wouldn't have expected this.

Marsh. 15-05-2012 04:29 PM

Kanye West is no longer of relevance.

bbfan1991 15-05-2012 04:30 PM

He is right!

Fair play

Shaun 16-05-2012 04:10 AM

Manny Pacquiao's come out (lol) against gay marriage, saying legalising it would be like reliving the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.

So let's get this straight (lol) - POTUS and hip hop record-manager billionaire (probably?) who's piecing Beyonce = in favour. Glorified dude-who-punches-dudes whilst only wearing shorts isn't.

Niall 16-05-2012 10:43 AM

It's awesome to see him standup and say this.

Tom4784 16-05-2012 10:47 AM

He's right, it is discrimination and in this day and age it's disgusting. You'd think after the 60's people would have learned a bit more about tolerance and civil liberties.

Why is this relevant? It would be discrimination to employ people on the basis of their sexual preferences and a gross invasion of privacy. For all you know he employs lots of gay artists, perhaps they don't disclose their sexuality publicly. I don't know, I've not bothered to look it up. I just feel like this is a ridiculous thing to say in this thread. Jay Z didn't have to publicly support gay marriage, I doubt he's on any priority list of people who need to state their view, not like President Obama or anything. He's said it, he didn't have to, so why say something like that?

So he must sign someone just because they are gay? Truth is only the best of the best are signed to the Roc. If he didn't sign any gay artists its because they aren't any that are good enough.

Just one day after Jay-Z's interview with CNN, in which he supported President Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage, T.I. has also voiced his support. "What difference does it make to you what other people are doing with their lives," Tip told MTV's RapFix Live. "I think that you should be able to do whatever you want to do."

Well Jay-Z still thinks Kanye is relevant.

Maybe not but it's a bit stupid to suggest he doesn't sign any gay artists because they're gay.
