This is a mammoth operation. Never have I seen an entire day's programming dedicated to one event/show before. Wow.

For someone with absolutely no interest in most sports and indeed the Olympics, I'm actually excited. Incredible.

Callum 15-05-2012 10:11 PM

What will happen to normal programming then like say EastEnders, will it be postponed completely until the Olympics are over or shown on a different channel?

Maia 15-05-2012 10:12 PM

^ What I was wondering

Marc 15-05-2012 10:13 PM

Full on!

Matt 15-05-2012 10:13 PM

And people thought it wasn't gonna be competition for Big Brother :bored:

You can tell Channel 4 is gonna be the same for the Paralympics

Marsh. 15-05-2012 10:13 PM

I don't mind the Olympics really. I'm not really into sports, but I can tell this will probably do my nut in.

Omah 15-05-2012 10:14 PM

Thank God for BBC4 and my extensive collection of non-sport videos ..... :idc:

Smithy 15-05-2012 10:14 PM

oh good lord

I don't think it will be. Not a lot of people will watch the entire coverage.

Locke. 15-05-2012 10:17 PM

Amazing. They are treating a sporting event correctly for once, giving it priority.

According to the Telegraph: "All of the regular BBC One programming will switch to BBC Two."

Some people won't watch any of it ..... :laugh2:

Jack_ 15-05-2012 10:28 PM

Big Brother is going to be absolutely battered by this. I'm expecting quite a few dips under a million for some shows.

To be honest with this amount of coverage, I can't see many of the other channels competing successfully.

MTVN 15-05-2012 10:29 PM

So basically Olympics from 6am-1am  don't mind that, least there'll always be something to watch

Locke. 15-05-2012 10:30 PM

And just think we have the Euro's to look forward to before it aswell :worship:

This.

The fact it's on almost 24-7 makes it more likely people will dip in and out when they want.

Because, despite the media hype and the prospect of consumer frenzy, I, for one, am not a mug, mark or punter .....

I will not pay a penny towards, nor positively support in any other way, the gross financial expenditure and covert political statements of the modern "so-called" Olympic Games ..... :hmph:

It's a small protest but ultimately satisfying ..... :pipe:

Why does Omah exist?

Two questions that will never have satisfying answers.

Niall 15-05-2012 11:27 PM

:amazed:

-will only wind up watching closing and opening ceremonies-

Ask a stupid question ..... :pat:

Glenn. 15-05-2012 11:46 PM

What date does it start?

EDIT: Nevermind. Googled it and I won't even be in the country. I'll be sunning myself on a beach in Turkey.

So impressed with their coverage, the 24 channels on Sky/Red Button are great and the player on the BBC Sport website is very useful. I love the little sports explanation VT's as well which explain the rules of certain sports incase you don't know a lot about them. Also love those 3D London flyovers of all the different venues, and the presenters, commentators and pundits have been great.

Honestly really impressed...and for someone that's never watched the Olympics before, I'm hooked.

MTVN 04-08-2012 01:25 PM

My only problem with it really is that they don't have all the red button stuff on freeview

Yeah this had been quite annoying. Otherwise they've done a great job with it.
