Mumford & Sons - LP "Babel" released 24th September

Mumford & Sons have announced the release date of their hotly anticipated second album. The follow-up to Sigh No More is due on 24 September – so long as the band don't change their mind and "discover it's ****".

News of the release comes about a month after Ben Lovett revealed he and his bandmates had finished recording the album. Speaking from the stage at this weekend's Pinkpop festival, in Landgraaf, Netherlands, Marcus Mumford said that the LP is due this autumn. In a later interview with 3FM, they gave the exact date: 24 September.

After the success of Sigh No More, there are high hopes for the Mumfords' next album. The group's 2009 record was Brit-winning, Mercury-nominated and accomplished a rare feat for a British debut: it was a huge hit in America, selling more than 2.2m copies. Much like their first album, the new one was recorded with producer Markus Dravs, and despite comments about it being a "doom folk" record, the first taster, Ghosts That We Knew, suggests the Mumfords are mining more or less the same vein of earnest, strummy pop.

"I think we just want the songs to be good, and to sound right, and to feel like we've expressed everything as straightforwardly and honestly as we can," Marcus told MTV News last year. Even after many months of recording, Lovett indicated they were still perfectionists. "We're done recording it," he told NME earlier this month. "But if we listen back while we're mixing and discover it's ****, we'll just start again."

Mumford & Sons will tour this summer, including appearances at their own mini festivals: in Huddersfield on 2 June, and Galway on 9 June. "We know there are ****loads of festivals in Britain and no one needs a new one," the band said. "But what we thought was missing was a high-quality, inner-city event where you can take over the city itself."
I cant wait please do not start it all again!!

Mumford & Sons have announced that their second album will be titled 'Babel' and that it will be released in September.

The album, which is the follow-up to the quartet's hugely successful debut 'Sigh No More', will be released on September 24.

A number of the tracks, including 'Lover's Eyes' and 'Ghosts That We Knew', have been debuted in the band's live shows throughout their recent tours.

Speaking about the album, the band said: "We are more than excited to release 'Babel' into the world. We had started writing new songs well before we got into the studio to record. At first, we peeled ourselves off the road quite reluctantly. We love playing live, obviously, but it had also become an important part of our creative process, we had been writing and rehearsing in soundchecks, and sort of 'road-testing' new songs on our very gracious audiences."

They continued: "But then we fell in love with recording again. The album started to come together, and with the help of Markus Dravs once more (and engineer Robin Baynton), we started to relish the challenge of making this album."

They continued further: "As a band, we've never been closer or more collaborative, all working to our strengths. And so we feel that this record is a natural progression that we’re proud of, and we cannot wait to take it out on the road."

The band are currently touring the world on their 'Gentlemen Of The Road' tour.

The tracklisting for 'Babel' is as follows:

'Babel'
'Whispers In The Dark'
'I Will Wait'
'Holland Road'
'Ghosts That We Knew'
'Lover Of The Light'
'Lovers’ Eyes'
'Reminder'
'Hopeless Wanderer'
'Broken Crown'
'Below My Feet'
'Not With Haste'

So happy! :D
