Is the timing of this series questionable?

So the next series of BB is starting on 05 June 2012

This means this series will clash with the Olympics, which are taking place here in the UK.

Would it not have made more sense to delay the start until after the Paralympics?

If I recall, last years Big Brother series started later in the year.

Nah.

when ever bb is on it will clash with some thing as it on for 3 months

daniel-lewis-1985 31-05-2012 06:08 PM

BB3 clashed with the world cup but was the most succesful series ever.

BB IS ALIVE 31-05-2012 06:08 PM

If it was on in the Autumn again it would clash with Xfactor, strictly, and ratings would suffer. Now is the best time... Well mid-May was best but we've gone past that now.

Kizzy 31-05-2012 06:09 PM

I couldn't care less about the olympics.....

BBDodge 31-05-2012 06:09 PM

It needs to avoid clashes with reality shows like The Apprentice & I'm a Celebrity.

Big Sports events are always a feature of summer.

Are people honestly gonna sit and watch the olympics 24/7? BB is an hour out of the day.

That's a very good point. I know it was still new then, but they could have got an average of over 7m without it I reckon!

I seem to recall BB3 starting off not as strong as people think, I think it started with around the high 4m and then ended up hitting the 6.5m+ (that may be because I think the WC was finished at that time).

Sticks 31-05-2012 08:03 PM

So will ratings dive as people watch the Olympics, killing off BB?

Patrick 31-05-2012 08:09 PM

Most people couldn't give a ****** about The Olympics - other than London, and other cities that are up London's arse and trying to cash in on it.

Load of bollocks.

How are we supposed to know?

You already asked this question.

Josy 31-05-2012 08:12 PM

I personally couldnt care less about the olympics, so will be watching bb when its on and I'm sure many more feel the same way.

BB IS ALIVE 31-05-2012 08:22 PM

I'm going to watch the Olympics and Big Brother. The Olympics are a once in a lifetime event in the UK, not likely we'll see them again here. But I can't wait for BB, anyway, BB is on at 10pm, not like they will clash apart from the Ceremonies.

Some people have experienced the Olympics in London before, so not strictly a once-in-a-lifetime event.

In fairness though, the way people are on here you'd think they expect people to be watching the Olympics 24/7. And IMO the vast majority of people outside London couldn't give a shít about the Olympics, the Euros yes, but not the Olympics.

No I don't think it is personally and I find this thread rather odd. It always has some sort of competition, this year it has the Olympics but does that mean that they should delay the series? No. Not everyone wants to watch the Olympics and those that do, I can't imagine them wanting to watch every single sporting event, they'll probably dip in and out so will still be able to watch Big Brother.

What a silly question. :conf2: How are we meant to answer this? Will the ratings likely suffer from the Olympics? Likely but like I said before most people will dip in and out of the Olympics coverage, not dedicate a whole day to it. I don't get where you're going with this thread.

DigitalSid 01-06-2012 12:39 AM

They should definitely have tried to launch it in May so it would be finished before the olympics, at least it's had a bit of a break now though after having 3 series in 4 1/2 months.

Utah 01-06-2012 08:51 AM

Not just the Olympics but Euro '12. Maybe they are trying to kill it off?

Load of bollocks.

They will do in July.

Jarrod 01-06-2012 09:41 AM

It might be. But they have timed the program for mostly 10pm slots? Maybe that will help.
