Daily Star: Over 5 million tune into Big Brother

Erm, no they ****ing didnt.

BIG Brother 2012 kicked off with a bang as more than five million tuned in. It beat last year’s first show which included a surprise appearance by Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson, 44.

Ramsay 06-06-2012 11:55 PM

what did it really get?

Smithy 06-06-2012 11:56 PM

thats probably what it peaked with

I dont see the problem, if people think that lots of other people are watching it, surely they might tune in to see what the fuss is

Wtf is the "reach"?

Thought that was the same as the peak which was 3 million?

They didn't. The audition had 1.18m (5.2%), IIRC.

Reach is the amount of people were "reached", maybe by not watching but by hearing the show was on... I never get it really. Not totally sure though.

Peak = the most people watching at once
Reach = the amount of people who watched at some point during the show
Average (the normal rating) = the amount of people watching on average throughout

You mean total reach? That's the total number of people who watched a particular television show. So the total reach would probably be the launch with +1, any repeats (if there were any), etc.

What, the total reach, the peak or in general?

This, except that they're all done to the nearest five minutes. So out of the whole 1 hour and 45 minutes it had a five-minute peak of 3.09 (3.1)m, but that's the most accurate you'll find, really. It could've had a 10-second peak of 7.7m. Who knows?

The +1 is included in the average. Repeats are included in the official rating which is the average plus the amount of people who recorded the show or watched the show within a certain period (I think a week).

Ramsay 07-06-2012 12:12 AM

dont forget to carry the 1 redway

And people who only watch a certain bit. Though I think they have to have watched for 3 minutes to count, so I don't think it includes people who don't actually watch any of it before flicking to another channel again, not sure.

Oh, yeah. :joker: OK, so that narrows it down to just the repeats (if any) and all that.

It's the highest 5 minute average during the show.

Yeah, but it's a shame they don't do the highest 1 minute averages or summat.

No, the overnight reach doesn't include repeats it's just the amount of people who watched at least some of the show.

Patrick 07-06-2012 12:30 AM

And over 4 Million of them won't be back because there's no Live Feed. xo
