Digital Spy BB rules

Spoiler:

REMINDER: Profanities and name calling

We have noticed a large number of users using profanities and calling individuals, whether soap characters or the actors that play them, derogatory names. This is a violation of our terms and conditions that you agree to when registering and users will lose their posting privileges if they continue to do so.

This includes making offensive remarks regarding the appearance of an actor, and the labelling of an individual with sexist terms. Calling anyone 'sluts' or 'slags' is not acceptable.

In case there is any confusion:

Quote:

Swearing

The Digital Spy forums do have a language filter which should block terms deemed too offensive for use on the forums. Deliberately evading this language filter in order to post offensive language will likely result in a ban as you've demonstrated a complete disregard for the forum rules. This includes but is not limited to masking letters with an asterisk, reversing letter order or substituting numbers for letters.

Casual swearing (where the words are NOT filtered) will not be punished but your post must satisfy the other terms and conditions meaning it needs to be a constructive, non-offensive post. Swearing at people or groups is not permitted.

'May have had a little too much to drink last night. I feel like ****!' would be fine. Posts such as 'You're a w*nker, I hate you!' and 'That makes no sense, piss off!' are not.

Offensive material

You must not post messages that are vulgar, crude, sexist, racist, homophobic or otherwise offensive. We will not tolerate offensive, immature or unconstructive postings.

'[BB Housemate X] is an ugly slut', and '[Random Politician Y] is a prick' are not acceptable. '[BB Housemate Z] is irritating me. Why do they have to shriek so often?' is fine.

Our aim is to make each of our members feel welcome. Racism, homophobia and sexism have no place on our forums and will be dealt with swiftly.
Our full community guidelines can be found here: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/announcement.php?f=249

If you find anyone violating these terms please use the red 'alert' button so that we can take appropriate action.

The reason I posted this was to show that in comparison to Digital Spy we're as liberal as parents who let their 10-year-old children arrive home at midnight, which I like.

Petershaw1984 07-07-2012 11:07 AM

probabky hsd a ban for all of those offenses

lostalex 07-07-2012 11:10 AM

I disagree, They have much more freedom of speech on Digital spy. I see threads on DS all the time that when i read them i'm like "if this was on TiBB it would be closed and everyone would have gotten infractions."

I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing, but i disagree that we are more liberal over here.

InOne 07-07-2012 11:10 AM

Who cares about DS, the trolls get banned on there as they do on here.

Yayita 07-07-2012 11:18 AM

I think those rules are ok, ive already had to report 2 people for personal attacks and derrogatory comments. DS seems more mature to me, perhaps they have more older people capable of debating without insulting.

I have seem trolls there too, one of them is here aswell.

It is so easy to receive a ban or a warning on Digital Spy - I receive a warning for correcting someone's spelling.

joeysteele 07-07-2012 11:23 AM

I've never liked the look of Digital spy, it's why I joined this forum.

Iceman 07-07-2012 11:24 AM

Digitalspy is far more strict.

Exactly. You get banned for breathing in there.

Iceman 07-07-2012 11:26 AM

And usually the ones who think here is more strict are the ones who have gotten banned before for breaking those exact rules

Black Dagger 07-07-2012 11:26 AM

I called Caroline and many others may I add ******** on here over the series and wasn't even infracted.

Earnt a perma-ban last time I called Caroline a ******* on DS. :pipe:

LOL, banned for the C word, permanently... Thats extreme. I have no problem with cursing, my problem are the nasty comments against people.

Vicky. 07-07-2012 11:32 AM

We used to be quite strict too actually, before we moved to vbulletin/infractions.

There were no wwarnings or anything, it was 3 strikes and you are out. First offence was a 24 hour ban, second was a week (?) and third was permanent.

I actually preferred that. People didnt push it so much like they do now.

It was like my 8th ban tbf. I did edit though, I changed to madame, but somebody quoted me, wasn't impressed. ha2.

TIBB is far less strict...

I think this current system is much better. You lose too many good members otherwise. The only thing I don't like is having stickied threads reminding members of the rules. Everybody knows what they are.

You dont though, you only lose the trolls.

The good members are a lot more civil to each other with threat of immediate bans...it was actually really rare that anyone got banned in the first place. he system we have now is way too liberal IMO.

You say everyone knows what the rules are...then how come so many break them constantly?

I see your point. People just choose to disobey with fear of only an infraction, to be honest but they still do know the rules.

Yes people are far too lippy these days. Should bring the three strikes back. People just keep getting ban after ban and tons of infractions and nothing changes with them.

MrWong 07-07-2012 11:43 AM

I prefer this forum.

There's way more humour on here.

Nope, my third.

First was for calling someone a hater. Second for calling a FM a hypocrite.

Obviously I figured that pointing out a housemates bad qualities would be fine, but apprently its not if said housemate is a forum fave :joker:
