Spring Greens..... Help
 
Red and I need your help to sort out a a little discussion/disagreement about Spring Greens.

I say its cabbage, taste like it, sort of looks like it but Mr Big Shot :laugh: says its a veg in its own right......

Can anyone help me prove him wrong?????

your both kind of right. spring greens are from brassica's, which include cabbage's. . some people call the leaves that grow from a cabbage that is more than a year old spring greens. they are really just loose brassica leaves rather than you get in cabbage.

if you let a cabbage grow but dont harvest it a shoot will grow from the middle of it like a tree branch, the leaves that grow of this branch are spring greens.

kind of. lol i did 3 years at horticultural college studying commercial horticulture. thing is there are so many regional terms for the same plant its hard to know what people mean sometimes unless they are using a latin botanical name.
spring greens are just "loose brassica leaves". in a broad term cos you can eat cauliflower leaves to.
