Best TV Shows?
Home-grown British or American shows, which is your favourite and why?
Also who does each category better? Drama? Comedy? What are you favourite shows from each genre? |
American shows for Dramas and sitcoms. British shows for reality TV and quiz shows.
My favorite American Drama: LOST My favorite American Sitcoms: How I Met Your Mother and Friends My favorite UK Quiz Show: The Weakest Link My favorite UK Reality Show: Big Brother, of course! :) |
Breaking Bad, cant wait Season 5 starts soon :)
|
Reality is probably my favourite overall genre, favourite show is Big Brother. Also really enjoy all the "talent" type shows, Dancing on Ice, X Factor, American Idol to name just a few.
|
I love American dramas like Desperate Housewives and comedies like Ugly Betty, but I also love American reality tv like Top Model and Drag Race :amazed:
British reality tv is good to, BB and IAC |
Breaking Bad/Weeds
How I Met Your Mother because they are all awesome as **** |
I have never watched either of Desp Housewives or Ugly Betty, they just don't really appeal to me. American comedies can be good, like Big Bang Theory (Sheldon ) and there's a new-ish one called The Bitch in Apartment 23, that's funny.
|
everyone i know loves big bang theory..i hate it personally
|
bitch in apartment 23 is funny
|
Drama - Desperate Housewives, Lost, Fringe, Revenge, Game of Thrones
Comedy - The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Bitch In Apartment 23, The Simpsons Reality - Big Brother |
Currently the best drama is Sons of Anarchy or Breaking Bad and the best comedy is Always Sunny in Philadelphia
|
I wouldn't say I'd have a favourite genre.
Trash TV/Talent shows I guess... Made In Chelsea, The Voice, X Factor, Big Brother, Young, Dumb & Living Off Mum, Coach Trip, 4 In A Bed. But then I like American Drama as well so. |
Game of Thrones, The Wire, Lost, 24, Homeland, Person of Interest, The Unit.
When it comes to comedies I only really watch Two and a Half Men these days. |

How I Met Your Mother, Friends...... I'll just say E4 minus Glee, The Cleveland Show and Hollyoaks :joker: Desperate Housewives is one I really like. It's addictive. It's a bit of a mess of a show but I really enjoy watching it. I don't watch many dramas really.
|
For comedies I prefer British and Irish like Father Ted,The Office and Extras. I don't particularly like older British comedies though like Faulty towers or Only Fools and Horses
The Americans definitely do Dramas better though, my top 5 of all time are probably : Dexter Twin Peaks Lost The walking Dead Game of Thrones |
My all-time favourite TV series is Heroes. Great plots, interesting characters and I just love the whole "humans with super powers/enhanced abilities" concept. I also loved Harper's Island and Awake which were 1-offs.
Favourite current drama series include: The Walking Dead, Skins, Revenge and American Horror Story. Hopefully Breaking Bad will join that list when I get around to starting it next week! Comedies Ive enjoyed are The Inbetweeners, 2 Pints of Lager and The IT Crowd. I dont know many old shows but Bottom is a comedy I love also. The Big Bang Theory is good but only from series 4 with Amy and Beernadette.. probably because I started watching with them present and the old 1s just feel.. odd (and I HATE Lesley). I love Reality TV... The Apprentice, BB, TXF, Sun Sex + Suspicious Parents, Coach Trip, Come Dine With Me etc. Then Alan Carr: Chatty Man is hilarious, definitely the best talk show, and Hollyoaks is the most entertaining soap. After all that though, I dont watch that much TV. |
Im a father ted fanatic! :) black books and alan partirdge too, not too keen on soaps or modern sitcoms though.
I love english drama like this is england, red riding, band of gold, boys from the blackstuff but not period dramas like downton abbey. I can't stand 'hollywood' films with car chases and explosions. Lurve factual programmes, louis thouroux, cherry healy.. reality TV (BB obv) and documantaries, loathe quiz shows and x factor/ dancing juged talent shows... The best programme ever made was sesame street and should be part of the curriculum in all primary schools. :D |
As for home grown shows... Nighty Night of course
|
American. Lost, hawaii 5:0 and scrubs
British. Shameless , the last train |
