Instant ejection?

Do you think Ashleigh and Scott should have been instantly ejected?

Let's just recap what happened.

Ashleigh was doing an impression of Deana eating with her hands and said “I noticed she was eating cereal with her hands so I said to her: ‘Do you need a spoon?’.

Becky and Conor were laughing at this and Scott said “My dad owned an Indian takeaway and they used to eat everything with their hands. It’s the culture.”

Scott was then warned for 'Stereotyping' and 'Racist Bullying'.

Do you think they should have been ejected?

Patrick 20-07-2012 02:03 PM

IT WASN'T THAT ******ING BAD JESUS CHRIST.

All Scott said was how Indians eat with their hands, which they do - I swear, the producers [and people like you who moan about this kind of stuff] are what is wrong with this show.

Ejected? They didn't even deserve the warning!

MatthewS 20-07-2012 02:04 PM

Seriously, these types of threads are getting out of hand around here...

Black Dagger 20-07-2012 02:05 PM

Eject them for being **** house-mates I say. :pipe:

nikkiluvsyaxox 20-07-2012 02:05 PM

Nope I don't believe they should of be ejected as somebody said the fact big brother even warned them about it is pathetic.

Roy Mars III 20-07-2012 02:05 PM

should never even got a warning

Kizzy 20-07-2012 02:06 PM

No, not at all.

Me. I Am Salman 20-07-2012 02:08 PM

Ejection is a bit too far but they definitely deserved a warning as it was blatant stereotyping.

sampvt 20-07-2012 02:08 PM

See I told you all, PC peeps will kill this show. Please watch in the night garden and hope Iggle piggle dosent tear a strip off upsadaisey for smelling flowers that could be the wrong colour upsetting all the farmers in England. JESUS FREEKIN WEPT, whats the world coming to.

Trasadkel1 20-07-2012 02:09 PM

Is this for real. It was ridiculous that they got a warning never mind being ejected.

sampvt 20-07-2012 02:10 PM

My god, I get accused of being a dick, I am not even in the close vicinity of this nonsense. Are these posts taken for real.

You have such a better way of posting what I am feeling. I wish all of the pc brigade would just switch off if they are that easily offended and let us enjoy BB as it used to be back in the day!. Things are getting out of hand now.

reece(: 20-07-2012 02:13 PM

No but Conor and Carol should have been ejected weeks ago.

fitz2k2 20-07-2012 02:14 PM

no one getting ejected lets face facts there no ifs or buts big brother has not even really punish them at all

Shaun 20-07-2012 02:16 PM

No. It's quite strange, really. The production team seem desperate to respond to every cry of foul play or 'bullying'. I know I hate the insider-housemates as much as the next person, but I don't think they're bullying anyone. Bullying would be walking up to Lauren or Deana every day and laughing at her, intimidating her, sabotaging her belongings / food. They bitch about her.

The whole "rumours spreading" thing that Big Brother brought up with Ashleigh on last night's highlights show was ridiculous. By that count virtually 80% of the human population of the world would be deemed a bully.

It just seems so laughable that a show that willingly exploits and ruins lives, careers and reputations is taking such a serious-face attitude towards them.

I think they just see fans complaining about their favourites (Adam, Luke A, Lauren, Deana) being excluded from the main group and have tried to appease them with these warnings. Let's face it: the warnings don't mean shit.

As for Scott's comments... they were incredibly stupid. But then again, so was airing them and inviting this whole new 'row'... it's almost as Channel 5 want another one to get the ratings. Which is totally deplorable, since I don't think Scott's racist.

Glitter In The Air 20-07-2012 02:17 PM

It's ignorance more than it's bullying.

wendywillow 20-07-2012 02:21 PM

i think bb is so scared of another shilpa theyre jumping the gun, it was no big deal, its like saying chinese people eat with chopsticks, and i dont even think caroline deserved her "bullying" warning, (as much as i dont like her) she ostracized other members but thats her and the public should decide her fate, i dont think bb should be "correcting" their behavior this much, unless actual bullying occurs, threat, violence, intimidation, etc, if this continues the house will become so milquetoast it wont be worth watching (imo)

smeagol 20-07-2012 02:23 PM

they should be ejaculated

Patricia4 20-07-2012 02:26 PM

It was crazy that they got a warning never mind being ejected what the heck did they do wrong..

cell 20-07-2012 02:27 PM

I couldn't believe they got a warning for that, there are a billion people living in India, I guarantee more of them eat with their hands then with other utensils.
Would it be stereotyping to say Asians use chopsticks? That it is part of their culture? Because they do, and it is.
More people in the world, in fact eat with their hands rather then utensils, we have hands for the tactile manipulation and interaction of the world around us. Is it seriously considered a negative trait to eat with your hands and therefore the PC brigade has to protect us from it?
Why is it considered negative to point out facts about other people's culture? Is it stereotyping if you point out "positive" facts about a different culture?
I seriously did not take any negative connotation to what Scott said, it was a wonderment out loud, it wasn't said maliciously. In fact maybe he did Ashleigh a favor in educating her that in different cultures people eat differently, she might not even be aware of that...

Are people in the UK so sensitive about stepping off the PC line with any culture or just with Indian culture? I would like to know, because I plan on visiting the UK and don't want someone calling the PC police on me.

Josy 20-07-2012 02:32 PM

No.

The formal warnings were enough.

Feel free to visit, we are used to living with people from all over the world. If you're getting your information about what a whole nation is like from Big Brother and a handful of negative posters on a forum, I think you're probably not ready to visit abroad, though.

The fact is that their intention was to ridicule and insult Deana. Intent. That's the difference between being racist and just discussing other cultures.

Jezzy 20-07-2012 02:42 PM

I think I'm in a minority here because the incident absolutely disgusted me. It's not about political correctness to me so much as respect for a fellow human being and cultural differences. I've travelled in India extensively, yes, they do eat certain foods with their hands. So what, so does every other nation on Earth.

It was the way in which it was done which I found appalling; the sneering way in which Ashleigh chose to snigger and belittle someone. Of course Deana doesn't bloody eat cereal with her hands; nor does anyone else I have ever met, Indian or otherwise. It was a direct barb at her culture, untruthful and ignorant.

Add to that working-class Scott's ridiculously inappropriate superiority complex and the hyena-type cackles from Becky and Conor, and maybe you see why some are angry about it. The formal warning was the correct action to take.
