HMs strange attitude to BB

I have been watching since BB1. There are certain aspects of the HMs' attitude to BB which have always intrigued me.
Two examples which spring to mind:
1. Why do HMs, after some event or conversation, go into the diary room and relate to BB what has happened, often in great detail. Surely they must be aware that BB not only has knowledge of the event but a detailed video and audio record.
2. After a HM has made some comment which another HM thinks might be breaking the 'no-nom talk rule' why doesn't the first HM just shout out to BB "Was I breaking the rule"?
This could apply to any of the task rules.

1. BB asks the housemate to explain what has happened so that they can be shown to be talking about the subject in the HL show.

2. Because BB does not talk to the housemates over the PA system, generally.

They only to BB in the diary room.
When a housemate presses the button to enter the DR the producers or whatever are alerted to speak to them, they aren't always ready and waiting to talk to the HMs

HMs see the DR as a comfort zone

Well of course I knew that!
But why does no HM say 'but you know what happened, why are you asking me?'
I am sure I would,
I guess they select the most malleable humans.

"2. Because BB does not talk to the housemates over the PA system, generally."
Actually BB does, quite often, but only at BB's instigation. None of that stops a HM from shouting out to BB. They might or might not get a reply, but it wold seem quiite normal to do it, even if only occasionally.
