I applied for a vacancy in KFC and got an email saying I was unsuccessful just 10 mins later
A lot of people say that online applications are pointless and it's better to actually go to shops and hand your CV in. I cba to do that lmao but you should maybe try that.

How horrid!

I think if you go into the shop they send you away and tell you to apply online if thats what they want? My gdad is looking for a job also and he refuses to have any association with a computer (hes an old fogey like that bless him) and hes being turned down left, right and centre when he goes directly into the shop telling him to go apply online

Really? Well idk I would just suggest to never give up and when handing in your CV, always ask for the manager and hand it to them, never the employee behind the till or whatever as they're the ones who usually turn you down and tell you to apply online because it's not their job to handle your CV.

Try being a volunteer in a charity shop for a couple of weeks Jords, yeah you don't get paid but it will give you at least some of the experience you need.

Ellen 24-07-2012 11:45 AM

A lot of supermarkets take on summer staff & if they keep you on they usually allow you to work around your studies. I know Tesco do that.
Good luck with the job hunting

I am looking for a job at the moment too, it's so horrible, even when they have vacancies it seems as thought hey don't want to employ anyone. e.e

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 24-07-2012 03:11 PM

when i was on jobseekers and i had to apply for jobs i applied for one at this chicken factory and the job was basically pulling the bones out of dead chickens (i would not have done it if they had offered me the job but i knew they wouldnt heh) so i emailed them and i was just like ok im not even going to bother sending a cv because why would you need a cv to pluck the bones from dead chickens and they got really offended and phoned my personal adviser at the jobcentre and i got into trouble

Jordan. 24-07-2012 04:15 PM

I got rejected by Wilkinsons so after that I gave up on life.

Yeah I found this this summer trying to get a proper job for the first time and everyone asking about previous work experience where I had basically nothing to say, did manage to find a bit of work though, even if it's just parking cars :pipe:

Adamw92 26-07-2012 12:30 PM

Sorry you got rejected Jords :( I was looking for a job for over 2 years and kept getting rejected... I gave up and now I work at McDonalds :P

Yes, a very important job

Jords, eveything happens for a reason. You probably didn't get this job because something better is waiting for you. I hope so. How's your CV looking? Have you had someone give it a look over? You probably have all kinds of experience you don't think is relevant for your CV but would be impressive to an employer.

Good luck in your job search.
