X-Men: Days of Future Past (trailer)

The official title for the sequel to 2011's X Men: First Class has been confirmed.

The follow-up will be called Days Of Future Past in reference to a storyline that appeared across two X-Men comic books from 1981. Announcing the title, franchise producer Bryan Singer revealed that that the film "deals with aspects of that comic [storyline], but also some very new things".

In an interview with IGN, Singer also called the sequel "very ambitious" and revealed that it is expected to begin shooting "in a few months". He also let slip that the script is "being written right now".

Discussing the potential scope of the sequel, Singer added: "I think there's a strong desire to broaden out the universe. I mean, the X-Men universe is every bit as big on its own as big as the Marvel universe. I think it's time to reach out and explore it and perhaps even bring some connectivity between the films, as Marvel's done so well. So you may see some of that, I don't know."

Earlier this month (July), Singer's fellow producer Steve Kinberg revealed that the X-Men: First Class sequel will be "a bigger movie than the last". "I think it is as dramatic as that movie, but more epic [and] mythic in a way as well," he said at the time.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be directed by Matthew Vaughn, who also helmed 2011's First Class. The sequel has a scheduled release date of July 18, 2014. It is expected to focus on Michael Fassbender's villainous Magneto character, with Fassbender and co-stars James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence all confirmed for the follow-up.
Looking forward to this, First Class was a really good movie... could do with a better director though.

Really liked First Class, but how many of these do they want to make?

Shaun 02-08-2012 03:41 PM

 IIRC they're making a sequel to Origins: Wolverine as well

brilliant news, Fassbender was easily the best thing about First Class

I don't know what's so special about Wolverine. He's their answer to Batman but people don't care.

Anyway, yay! I'm still hoping for a continuation of the first trilogy but I doubt that's ever happening. Hope Jean features in this one. Great title too!

pretty hard to continue the original trilogy when they killed off virtually everyone :bored: such a stupid movie

The Wolverine is an upcoming American/Australian superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine. It is intended to be the sixth installment in the X-Men series and follow the events of the 2009 film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Hugh Jackman is set to star as the title character with James Mangold directing a screenplay written by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback, based on the 1982 limited series, Wolverine by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. The Wolverine is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2013.

The film is expected to take place in Japan following the events of the first film and borrow elements from Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's 1982 limited series, which was set in the same location.

I love how he appeared in First Class telling Fassbender and McAvoy to "**** off"

That film was a mess.

They could have done SO much more with the Phoenix storyline.

Let's hope they use this Time Travel business to retcon some of the mistakes made in X3 and The Last Stand.

Bluerang1 03-11-2013 07:13 PM

Why is Wolverine the time traveler and not Shadowcat??

Tom4784 03-11-2013 08:54 PM

She isn't as recognisable as Wolverine, Shadowcat's only had a small part in the films so it would be a safer bet to make someone like Wolverine the main character sadly.

Bluerang1 04-11-2013 07:08 PM

Yeah but it's about the X-Men as a collective. I know they did it for marketing but they need to stop being on Wolverine's D so much.

I need to see the **** out of this movie. I'm gonna rape it with my eyes.
