Should Luke A have gotten a warning for the BMI comment

What do you think?

smeagol 03-08-2012 09:47 AM

he should of got 50k and free pass to the final

Niamh. 03-08-2012 09:49 AM

Why is that any worse than all the things Becky has said about him : Disgusting, nasty, ballerina, cheese face for example and that was before she heard the BMI comment.

HBB1508 03-08-2012 09:50 AM

No way it wasn't offensive at all it was a comment about respect - something Becky has no concept of. She can't go around playing the "I love being a fat girl" card and then get all upset about a comment that she thinks is about her size - and she wasn't upset anyway she was milking the whole thing to make herself look a victim - hope she goes tonight - if anything she should have got a warning for making Luke A feel as bad as he did about the whole thing.

jet 03-08-2012 09:50 AM

Of course not.

Kizzy 03-08-2012 09:50 AM

No, no and no...In that order.

Redway 03-08-2012 09:51 AM

No. Becky is fat and for her to go around thinking she's in this protection bubble and shouldn't have any comments made on her weight is a ridiculous attitude to have. It's not like she's slightly overweight - the girl's morbidly obese and it's up to her to do herself a favour and stop stuffing her face with crap.

gravity 03-08-2012 09:53 AM

It seems like he said a pretty disgusting thing based on Becky's reaction. BOTS keeps talking about how vile and horrible the comment was. If BOTS decides to highlight a nasty comment, then I guess the person who said it needs to get a warning or be ejected right? In this cause, for Luke A, It's not like they are gonna ignore the incident ever happened and give the one guilty of making the comments great edits and either 50 K or a pass to the final.

chuff me dizzy 03-08-2012 09:58 AM

Of course not

RE: Should Luke A have gotten a warning for the BMI comment

Nope. Far worse things have been said in BBs without reprimands/warnings being issued.

Marmalite 03-08-2012 10:03 AM

Seriously?

I can't believe there is a thread about this.

Exactly.

And on Becky's audition video, she quite clearly said that she doesn't care if someone calls her fat and she doesn't care if someone calls her ugly. Apparently though, 'BMI' is much more insulting than 'fat' and 'ugly'. She's made herself look like the fool she is.

R0B1S 03-08-2012 10:08 AM

No. He just stated a fact.

joeysteele 03-08-2012 10:12 AM

In a workplace,he would have got a talking to as to it but I would guess the superiors would also secretly have had a laugh at it.

He did go to apologise, she wouldn't accept the apology but that is her right although not very endearing. He couldn't do more than apologise and BB couldn't have expected him to do any more than that, so no, he should not have got a warning.

And in a workplace Becky would also be reprimanded for all the nasty things she said about Luke. The only difference here is what Luke said was mentioned by her sister, she's been as nasty about Luke (if not more so) but that wasn't broadcast to him

In the workplace Becky wouldn't have even known about it as he didn't say it to her face, only to a friend in private.

Personally, I think he should be up for a British Comedy Award, it's one of the funniest comments of this series.

Joey... as if anyone was superior to you.

Halfwit 03-08-2012 10:40 AM

i like luke a (no clue why i think i have to say that) but he should have got a warning and that has nothing to do with becky being comfortable in her own skin, it was really low to say that and he knows it himself, after all he shows remorse. it wouldn't change anything anyway, this would be his first and probably last warning because he is (unlike becky) a good soul deep down, it was just the house and becky getting to him, a slap on the wrist would have probably done him more good than being confronted with this situation during the nominations.

That is very true and I have never condoned Becky's behaviour at all. nor in the post I made, Becky to me is an awful housemate and has been for weeks.

I merely pointed out that in a workplace if reported to his superiors he would have got a talking to on the matter at the very least. However equally so, (but the question didn't ask should Becky have had a warning for things she has said), I would say yes, she should have been made to apologise for anything she has said against Luke A especially if said in a workplace,or in fact said anywhere where others could hear it too.

Actually the whole thing showed Luke A's wife in a far better light than Becky's Sister that she held back from saying it and in fact,I am surprised BB let Becky's Sister go on so much about it.

Some of the public have listened and really sympathised with Luke A as to his story, wherein he has outlined the hurtful comments he has had as to his appearance over the years.
He even admitted that himself in the diary room that it would look bad for him now to have then made a comment as to someone elses appearance after all he has had to bear in his transition, some people have questioned his credibility now for doing that.

I would say they are wrong to question that but some will unfortunately especially the way it was allowed to be made known to all the other housemates and not by Luke A himself.

G1dds 03-08-2012 10:44 AM

No, of course not

He stated a FACT - if peeps can't see that, then it's no wonder we have obesity problems here

If he'd called her a fEcking fat digusting *****, then perhaps yes he should have been wrist slapped. I can't even fathom why people find saying someone who revels in being overweight, find the BMI comment offensive

My OH often says I have no respect for my liver, do I get offended? Hell no, my response is its being exercised :)

Munchkins 03-08-2012 10:47 AM

No, Becky has said just as awful things, but because its a weight issue, it seems to be seen as paramount

Razor 03-08-2012 10:48 AM

I think he should of got a pat on the back for telling the truth.

optimisticcynic 03-08-2012 10:49 AM

Not a chance. Good on him. Shame he capitulated. Really want to see Becky evicted tonight but am so frustrated by Conor/Luke S walking with 50grand, might stop my BB relationship today and focus on less ridiculous reality tv like the apprentice.
