Is 50K really life changing?
 

Does it depend on which part of the UK you live in?
To me life changing means you can give up work. I don't think you can do this on 50K.

Well, it could definitely make your life a bit easier, but it's not life changing.

50K does not change your life, it helps pays bills really. Not even enough for a decent downpayment on a house. Plus is this the amount they pocket? or do they have to pay taxes on it?

Invest? Start a business? Take some qualifications? It can give you opportunities you would not otherwise have had.
