Why can't Luke S laugh at himself?
 

Is it just me who thinks Deana's jokes are only made awkward by Luke's weird reaction? Why is he taking himself so seriously? It's not like Deana's making fun of his whole family dying, he lost 50 grand that was never his in the first place!!

The first time she did it, she was drunk.. The girl couldn't even stand up straight.. What we saw in tonights HL's had he just laughed it would have been alright but instead she gets a cold stare and 'I can't wait f'cking nominate you'.. Seriously.. Luke S is lucky Deana is giving his mundane-ness a storyline.

All this Luke S pity and comparing Deana to Conor/Caroline is making me cringe.

i dont think deena was as drunk as she would have viewers believe...just think this was the opportunity for her to say it and half get away with it....luke s is a pussy.....should have told her in no uncertain terms to eff right off . not cry all the way to the diary room ..waste of space..both of em !

I honestly didn't even think the Charlie comment had hurt him until he told her "I can't ****ing wait to nominate you!" I was like what just happened.

This is the core of the issue to me. The push the button thing is so harmless yet Luke S is making it seem as if he just lost his family in a fire and Deana is laughing about it. It was his own stupidity that cost him 50k. To me it's a flaw in him that he can't seem to laugh at himself.

Yep, that's because you've got balls like most of us and Luke S clearly doesn't.... well not without his boys Conor, Aaron and Becky to back him up.

I think today she went too far.

Can you explain how?

Deana doesn't exactly know he went to cry over it in the DR. All she said was lets call you Charlie because you have a ticket to the final. Hardly threatening to knock him out!!

The situation only became odd when Luke S took it so seriously.

No doubt if it was anyone else saying it he wouldn't care!

It was his own greed that cost him. Instead of taking 20-40K, he had to wait for that little extra. He deserves no pity :idc:

He can laugh at himself, like with his comments about make up brushes he knew he was taking the piss out of himself a bit and he was able to laugh when Conor was taking the mick over Ashleigh failing that quiz task, bit different when it's someone you don't like being a bitch though

She was laughing at him and going on about Charlie and the golden ticket. She wouldn't let it go.

He is so uptight and serious.

Laughing at Conor taking the mick of Ash is not laughing at yourself.

His comment about makeup brushes was not taking the mick of himself. He said it in the same monotone droney voice he says everything in.

And exactly there.. so Luke S is only mad because it's Deana saying it? It's the reason we've hated the insiders for all this time. It's one rule for them and a different one for everyone else, especially Deana. I thought his reactions to her jokes were sour and pathetic and the phrase 'get over yourself' has never felt more appropriate.

Yeah but Charlie and golden ticket is not a negative thing.. She was laughing at the joke she was making. She wasn't saying anything negative about him. If he doesn't think the joke is funny that's all he needs to say instead of pretending she was personally attacking his character and demeaning him as a human being which she wasn't doing..

I think it's the fact that she just won't drop it tbh, she done it at first the other night and saw it upset him, said sorry but then continued to keep at him, then tonight we saw her do it yet again, she has mentioned a few times how low she felt when she's wasnt getting on with Conor etc earlier in the series so why keep taunting Luke S when she knows how it makes him feel? it's just cruel now IMO.

I don't think I have laughed at much of her so called jokes tbh they all come across quite awkward rather than funny.

I didn't mean Conor taking the piss out of Ash I meant Conor winding him up over how annoyed he was, when he was on the phone to BB and going on about Luke crying and laughing at him having to do that beans punishment. And I think he was taking the mick out of himself because Scott was laughing at him about it and he knew it was a bit of an odd thing to be an expert on

And yeah I would say it's more about Deana saying it, there's a difference between what was basically banter between friends and someone he's never got on that well with taking the piss, especially with a stupid joke like that, when it's the latter it just looks like an intentional attempt to annoy

Simple question - if it was Ashleigh saying it instead of Deana, would he still be mad?

I think the real answer there is yes. Just like he is any time Ashleigh says things to him that make him the butt of the joke. He's pretty awkward and humorless, and it has nothing to do with who the joke comes from, only that it's about him. He's much happier in things like the copycat potion - where he's the star and everyone else looks silly.

I think/hope she'll be done with it now. I don't think she realized that it upset him until he reacted. I didn't think she had either.

Deana's repeating a very tired and boring joke, but to be fair I think he's exploiting pretending to be upset to get sympathy votes.

Its pretty obvious Luke S clearly regrets not taking the opportunity of taking the 50k...
If Deana cannot see that then she is stupid... but she is not. She simply cannot help kicking a person when he is down. I think he has shown a lot of strength in not rising to her clearly baiting him.
I think she has pushed the boundaries. She could well regret this and Luke S may well have the last laugh. If she goes on friday it will be because of this....and I will be laughing my socks off.

Did you see her face when she thought Scott had been on atask throughout.... everyone else found that quite amusing.....all she saw was Scott having an advantage over her and wasnt impressed in the slightest... All she can ever say is 'I would have never done that'... On the first night she didnt mind putting 3 up for eviction instead of sacrificing herself now did she???

So what if he regrets it? That's his problem not Deana's. It's the BB house, something like that was always going to happen to someone. He didn't lose anything he didn't have. He needs to get over it and stop acting as if he's lost his whole world.

I think it's kind of obvious Deana genuinely finds her joke funny and keeps making it because of that. Luke S makes the situation awkward by reacting like the robot that he is. Deana calling him Charlie reminded me of Big Bang Theory when the others make jokes with Sheldon and he's like -___-

She was shocked at Scott's task because she interpreted as Scott not being himself the entire time she knew him. Like she kept saying ''those were the best parts about you''. Now she doesn't have those, those things she found funny about him or didn't like about him, she didn't know what to think. She said she wouldn't sacrifice her BB experience to act as a pawn in BB's game.. That was what she said not ''you had an advantage over me''.

Deana's task was a one off and not something that lasted the entire way through. However she did have to handle the reverberations of it during her entire time in the house. People like Lydia and Conor taking an instant and lasting dislike of her.
