Rovers Return Inn to become a B&B?

The Rovers Return is to be transformed into a B&B.

Corrie newcomer Gloria Price decides the Street’s boozer should be offering punters a bed for the night as well as a pint.

So when her daughter and Rovers landlady Stella (Michelle Collins, 50) is away, she sets up the new business venture.

But it doesn’t go down well with some of the locals. In scenes to be screened next month, Gloria, played by Sue Johnston, 68, is seen welcoming a new guest to the Rovers B&B.

She tells him: “So it’s a double room for two nights?

“It’s short notice, we’re very popular these days.

“You’re in luck, we had a last-minute cancellation.

“The poor lad’s mother died, tragic accident on the Rotterdam ferry, she was trying to fit her mates into a group photo and I think you can guess the rest.

“So that’s £32.50 with a full English breakfast, great.

“Welcome to the Rovers Return and may you return many times.” However, the move doesn’t go down well with Stella’s daughter Eva (Catherine Tyldesley, 28).

She storms: “Since when do we do bed and breakfast?”

Making her real intentions clear, Gloria explains: “Since I entered us into the B&B category for pub of the year.

“All you need is quilts, pillows and a frying pan. What else do you need?”

Gloria will cause chaos from the moment she arr*ives on the cobbles.

We’ve already revealed how she clashes with a number of drinkers and bars some from the pub.

Former Brookside and Royle Family star Sue confirmed Gloria will be a battle-axe, adding: “She doesn’t endear herself to everyone.

“She’s a real Coronation Street matriarch.”
