Let's be honest Julian and Julie are not that funny

I know fans of Julian Clary and Julie Goodyear are desperately trying to push them as some hilariously excellent camp comedy duo but they are both dullards really. And even in this partnership Julie has been the funnier one imo.

The worst is Julian as he's supposed to be funny (whereas Julie can get away with trying to replicate her onscreen Corrie character). All he does is 'let's go out for a snout' and try and slate the people who he perceives as his rivals ie Mike Situation and Cheryl. Where's the comedy? As vile as Jasmine has been she came out with more and better 'one liners' than Julian. Even Colleen, Martin, Julie and MC flipping Harvey have made me laugh more.

The only interesting thing is watching Julian desperately trying to get rid of the Situation as he's worried the American will have a large cult US following (as the biggest reality TV star after Kim Kadashian).

Julian and Cheryl to be evicted please.

seriously. omg, a gay hotel called the "white swallow" cause cum is white, and gay people suck dick, omg, soooo funny... not.

Julian is so old now. Sex jokes, especially gay sex jokes are not shocking any more. That's what he built his whole career on.

He's not as clever as he thinks he is.

Good on him for breaking boundaries back in the day, but seriously, if he was as clever as he thinks he is, he'd come up with something new by now.

Well they've made me laugh the most...

'He's got an illness called dullness' was a great one-liner from Julian last night.

I found it ironic, since Julian has been just as if not more dull than Lorenzo...

Showed a real lack of self-awareness.

Fosse 23-08-2012 10:39 AM

He's not funny at all or particularly intelligent.

alex_front2 23-08-2012 10:40 AM

I actually find Lorenzo more entertaining than Julian.

Julian's comedy is soo predictable. Gay sexual innuendo. Tick. Tedious sneering at Situation's lack of intellect/ talent. Check. Bitching with Julie about others. Check. Saying lets' go out for a snout'. Check. Smiling gingerly that his camp innuendo has gone over the heads of Rhian, Lorenzo and Mike. Check.

Even my friend who initially told me how brilliant JC was going to be is massively disappointed. All the best bitchy lines have come from flipping Jasmine.

showtime77 23-08-2012 10:43 AM

Julian is really holding back and I don't blame him. His comment about a certain politician really hurt his career. His humour can be very dark and I don't think Big Brother is a place he can really let loose as he will be deemed heartless and a bully by some because they just son't get it!

So you were expecting Julian to be like he is on the stage the whole time he is in the house?
Fair enough if you dont like him or dont find him funny but you cant seriously expect him to put on his stage act 24/7? You would then be accusing him of been false & not been himself.

billy123 23-08-2012 10:48 AM

I guess it flies over the top of some peoples heads.
Some are best left to scream for the empty headed models to win i suppose.

But he's not been that funny. His fans bang on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about his wit and barely manages a one-liner every 4 shows. At least Julie comes out with something vaguely funny almost every show. During the home truths Julians' 'Collen is fat' was just soo lazy. All the others came up with something funny and insightful, saying 'you're fat' was just crap. He was the least funny out of the 4. Even he looked sheepish when he saw Julie, Colleen and Samantha Brick saying sort of funny stuff.

I can remember him on Saturday Night Live (whole Joan Collins Fan Club) - preferred Harry Enfield's annoying LoadsaMoney nonsense.

Maybe Clary fans over sold him or expected too much but he's been out done in comedy by half the house.

Julian Clary comedy - epic failure

I get it, I knew the white swallow was a joke (Goodyear thought he was being serious) but it was depressingly predictable. He needs to get into a Delorian and fly back to 1987 Ben Elton, Harry Enfield Johnathan Ross and Saturday Night Live

'Let's be honest...' Um, when did you start speaking on our behalf? We all have our own opinions, get over it.

auntysplat 23-08-2012 10:58 AM

I like Julian, think Julie is bringing him down, He has a weird sense of humour, a bit old hat now, but then again Julie and Martin in a way are old hat not meant in a nasty way, what some people would say "has beens"

achro 23-08-2012 11:00 AM

All his jokes aired have been based on a phrase as a punchline. Not really that intelligent.

Let;s be honest I can say what i want and if you don't like it, too bad :joker:

PS Honest, let's be honest he says he hates The Situations misogyny but Julian has made a career out of saying how revolting women's bodies are. :joker:

Cherie 23-08-2012 11:06 AM

Julian is at his best in the DR....when he grapped the arms of the DR Chair and said ...ooo plastic...shame...even BB was stunned into silence...:joker:

That would be a fair assumption really auntysplat (i love your username by the way :)) that is what amuses me about them the fact that the jeremy kylers that love screaming blonde stupid models dont get it just makes it even more amusing for me :)

Tregard 23-08-2012 11:13 AM

The show is edited to convey "Storylines", which Julian is seldom part of. If they were to cut away to a sole quip he makes it would be seen as bias editing most probably.

If you don't get his humour or particularly enjoy it that's fine, but your opinion is absolutely subjective, and not in any way fact.

Fosse 23-08-2012 11:35 AM

He's just not particularly bright... he's like many of the other HMs in that regard.

I agree Julian is not showing us the full range of his comic talents at present. Julian has a very dark and a very dry sense of humour, the CBB House is probably not the best place for him to let rip and show us what he is capable of. I think he needs to show us a lot more and become "louder" in view of the fact that there are other big funny characters in there also.

I think he is still trying to find his niche in the CBB house, his double act with Julie is not working he needs to pick a few allies in there and stick with them. I dont think he has settled yet which is a worry as we are 1/3 way through the show.

Keep watching folks i'm sure the best is yet to come...!!!

his humor is not flying over anyone's heads, he only has gutter humor, very low class sexual humor.

You actually think his humor is high-brow? really?

Roy Mars III 23-08-2012 11:44 AM

they have a few decent moments, but overrated on here

Brother Leon 23-08-2012 11:45 AM

Julie has made laugh maybe a couple times and Julian none.

Hell,Harvey has made me laugh more and he's not even funny lol

Kazanne 23-08-2012 11:46 AM

Julian has been hilarious,I suspect that just because he is not keen on ,the occasional table, some people have turned against him, which is silly,he doesn't,HAVE to like him,he,s done eff all anyway, who is he?

well it's just annoying that he's gone on about how "dull" mike and lorenzo are, but we havn't seen anything particularly exciting from him, so how does he get off calling anyone else dull?

just seems hypocritical to me.
