The Dragon And The Wimp!

What a shambolic miss-match that was!!
BOTS has done it again!....They went and set up a potential show stopping scenario that could have been gripping , edge of your seat television gold, by arranging for a lively debate between representatives of the main show's two warring diva's...[Julie and Coleen]...They get the first part right by inviting the acid tongued bull-terrier of the Nolan clan to defend her sister's honour....And then what do they go and do?.... in opposition they fetch a useless wet-lettuce to do battle on Julie's behalf!! :hmph:

I don't particularly like either of these false and conceited z lister's , but I mean.. well...I think that the 'speaking clock' would have put on a better defence of Julie's character than the lorry driver!!
I actually think that both diva's will be pretty embarrassed if they see a V.T of the show when they come out!...Julie because of her husbands total ineptitude in front of the camera, and acting like a scared rabbit caught in the headlights of an oncoming car!!...and Coleen because of the way that her big sister showed just what a venomous , vindictive cow she undoubtedly is!!

What say you guys...? :idc:

Cheers.

Yep that Nolan was a right bitch! I certainly don't think she has done Coleen any favours...

And it's funny that she said that Julie was a diva & had a "reputation" in the showbiz world, when I have heard the exact same things about The Nolans! :nono:

I'm not liking Julie very much but in all fairness to her husband he is a lorry driver and unused to appearing in front of the cameras, unlike the Nolans. I can understand why he was nervous.

I don't think the sister did Colleen any favours with her venemous attitude

Not to mention the fact the he was appearing in front of a crowd that probably suspected him of stealing Julie's underwear.

Colbert-Bump 24-08-2012 04:14 AM

Linda Nolan & her showbiz pals don't like Julie...the lovers of music hate you're band love.

This. I've seen some horrid things about her husband from last night and they aren't fair. Plus she's made out he's some stalker, it was good of him to even appear imo what with the attitudes some have got.

joeysteele 24-08-2012 08:33 AM

I thought it was very clear that he was uncomfortable being in the spotlight and he kept everything low key and didn't show himself up at all really,(I also think it was wrong to put him in that position too by bbbots), unlike the awful, arrogant and poisonous Linda Nolan who set out to belittle and ridicule what he was saying.

I was glad she only got small token applause for anything she said from some in the audience and really she showed herself up to be a rather nasty individual.
It is,in my view, the height of ignorance to laugh virtually in someones face at what they are saying as she did with Julie's husband last night.
She did so though, not once but several times and showed what awful people the Nolans likely really are.

It would not be fair to expect Julie's husband to speak eloquently since he is not used to cameras and speaking publicly. I believe he acquitted himself as well as he could and he stayed calm under fire. I imagine he was full of trepidation prior to the interview however he was there to support his wife - quite rightly.

I think Linda spoke her truth and only said what many viewers have been thinking. I do not think it is fair to lambast her for telling things how she has perceived them. She spoke with passion.

I too have questioned Julie's ability to immediately 'love' someone since (to my knowledge) she did not know the people she is trying to 'mother' prior to entering the house. For this reason it is possible she will lose any creditworthiness. I sense we are getting Bet Lynch and not 'Just Julie'. However, I may be wrong. The acid test will be if Julie becomes more acidic as the days progress. If she is acting she will be unable to sustain the act without letting her real self show through at times. If she is not acting she will go on trying to mother people and as she says - putting herself last. Only time will tell.

I think when she tells people she loves them its just her way of saying she cares about them when they are upset or feeling insecure, its probably something she has done for a long time.
Im sure there are times when Bet Lynch comes out & there are going to be times when she snaps at people or is moody, it happens when you live with people but it doesnt mean she isnt been herself.

flamingGalah! 24-08-2012 09:27 AM

I don't know why people bring up Julie 'being' Bet Lynch... She played her for TWENTY FIVE years & although acting a large part of her characters personality WAS Julie, actors do often inject their own personailty in a character to make them more like themselves... especially if they are playing the same character for a quarter of a century! I don't see it as a negative at all & actually love the fact she is very much lke Bet :D

Patricia4 24-08-2012 09:36 AM

I thought oh my goodness her husband isnt a full bob but then I thought he isnt one for camera's and being in the spotlight he wasnt all that bad. Nolan was the worst one she is a evil nut her attitude wasnt good and Julie's husband won that battle for me.

sampvt 24-08-2012 09:41 AM

Coleens sister did her no favours and you can see the type of people the Nolans are. Julie on the otherhand is playing a dangerous game. She has befriended people that she knows she dosent like just for the cameras and the minute she falters and stabs one of them in the back, she will become about as popular as a fart in a spacesuit with the public.

Cherie 24-08-2012 09:50 AM

I felt sorry for Julies husband, he was totally out of his comfort zone, yes Linda Nolan did go for it, but he could have put up a better defence when Julies reputation on the outside was questioned, he just remained mute, I think he was more upset with being labelled a stalker by his own wife, and came on the show to clear the air about that one, rather than defend Julie.

realitytvsux 24-08-2012 11:28 AM

I felt sorry for him too. He seemed like a sweetie and totally out of his depth - probably much the same as being married to Julie ;)

kistar 24-08-2012 11:34 AM

Julie said though her husband had asked her to marry him every day for 11 years and eventually he said if she didn't marry him he would have to spend the rest of his life alone, that was when she agreed to marry him. He gave a completely different story.

I thought by the title thread you meant Julie and her husband:joker:

Ellen 24-08-2012 11:38 AM

He looked like he was over come with nerves than anything else.

No matter what the guy said she would have shot him down, i liked the fact he let motor mouth carry on. She just showed herself up for what she is, nasty.

Gillian-73 24-08-2012 11:41 AM

I felt sorry for him.

I agree with you, when the character Bet Lynch was created as a member of Coronation St, although there would be ideas of how she could turn out was going to very much depend on the actress playing her.

In effect Bet Lynch is really likely Julie Goodyear, just as Rita,(called Tanner) is really the actress playing her, they bring their own traits likely into the characters they play at times.
If they play the character for a long period as Julie has Bet, then more and more of their own personality must even more form the character they are playing, when it is a fictitious person.

No matter what she plays now, Jean Alexander, for instance will always to most people be Hilda Ogden and Julie is likely to always be Bet Lynch, especially since the character hasn't been killed off in Corrie yet too.

The world of acting is an odd one and people do over time likely turn the characters into people more like themselves, I doubt Julie Goodyear has any identity problem as to being Bet or Julie, to her and to a great many people for the time she has portrayed her, the 2 are likely the same anyway as to personality in the main.

(I was just reading an old cast list from an old TV times for Corrie and was amused at Bet lynch being payed by Julie Goodyear, Annie Walker being played by Doris Speed and Betty Turpin being played by Betty Driver, all vehicle related surnames.)

After over 50 years Corrie is an amazing success as to a series/soap,the characters really do come to mean quite a bit I have found to the avid followers of the soap, fans of Corrie would likely rarely if ever call Julie Goodyear, Julie, they would call her Bet,even if they saw her in person.
Most people I hear in the supermarket I go to are on about Bet Lynch being on Big Brother, not even saying the name Julie Goodyear.
I have a feeling Julie will guess and even know that is expected, she isn't likely disappointing many in that at all. I hope she keeps doing all she is doing and full credit to her from me for that.

Id put that in the same category as him being a stalker...a load of rollox.
