thisisbigbrother.com BUBBLE MARATHON INTERVIEW

I spoke to Bubble earlier today, and chatted to him about his forthcoming marathon run.

Here is the first part. There'll be more next week.

---------------------------------------------------------------
LEE: Hiya Bubble. How are you?

Bubble: I’m good. No, actually that’s a lie, I’ve never ached so much in my life!

L: You’re doing a lot of training then for the run?

B: Yeah, I’ve been going down the gym. It’s a ‘mare. I ache in places I never knew I had places.

L: You’re working out every day?

B: Yeah. The gym have been really good. They’ve given me free membership until the run and two personal trainers. They’re helping me a lot.

L: You said you’re really busy at the moment. Is that just with the training?

B: Yes, but I’m moving house as well and it’s a nightmare. The people have left it in an awful state and I’ve got to get builders in and supervise all of that. I didn’t think when I said yes to this, I thought I could just turn up and run. But you can’t do that can you?

L: No not if you want to stand any chance of doing OK, or even finishing!!

B: Yeah, and I reckon I’m gonna get people stopping me all the way through as well. I should get them all to give money. I wish I could take someone round with me holding a bucket so we could bully people into giving money as we go along. It’d be too heavy though. Another good idea of mine that wouldn’t work!! I’ll think of something though.

L: I know what you mean about the gym. I used to go really regularly and I started going back again a couple of weeks ago and OMG can I tell that I hadn’t been for 2 years!

B: I can’t understand people who go to the gym for fun. I’m doing this cos I have to. My instructor said, ‘Just wait, after you’ve been coming regularly for a couple of months you’ll get really into it, and carry on coming’. ‘You obviously don’t know me,’ I said, ‘As soon as this is over, I’m gonna go back to my room, sit on the sofa and order take away pizza.’

L: …and Chips and takeaway Chinese!!.

B: Yeah, it’s worse cos I’m stopping smoking as well. I’ve cut down from 20 a day to 7, which is really good. I thought I’d have a quick cig before going in the gym this morning so I could last out the 2 hours I’d be there, but my instructor caught me outside and he told me off. He took the cigarette off me and said ‘What do you think you’re doing?’ I felt like a school kid getting told off by a teacher.

B: Did you know that no other celebs have ever done anything for the MacMillan fund? I’m the first one.

L: I think that’s amazing cos they’re a really well known organisation and it’s a really good cause.

B: I know I was amazed. I asked them ‘Who else have you had doing things for you then and they said ‘No-one. We’ve asked loads of celebs in the past and you’re the first person who’s said yes’.

L: Good for you then? How much do you hope to raise?

B: I’ve got to raise £20,000. That’s a lot of money but I’ve got lots of people, like you guys, helping me out so hopefully I should do it.

L: That’s brilliant, well you have our support 110%.

I've arranged to talk to him again next week so I can put your questions. Let me know what you want me to ask him.

Kaz 18-01-2002 09:26 PM

Wow, you actually talked to Bubble! :hello: :elephant: :hello:

And what great questions you asked - well done, LEE - a great scoop for the site.

As a smoker myself  I know how hard it is to stop, or even cut down, so I think it's fantastic that Bubble has done so well. Great news too that he's persuaded Josh to run the marathon with him. I'm sure he'll be able to give Bubble lots of encouragement, although he never quite got him to join in with his fitness sessions in the BB house, did he?

As for further questions to ask Bubble when you speak to him again, what about asking him this:

"You've been through the BB experience - knowing what you know now, if a close friend told you that they were going to apply for BB3 would you encourage or discourage them?"

Congratulations again, LEE, on a fantastic interview.

Brilliant interview LEE, I always thought Bubble was a genuinely nice guy.

Good on him for doing something not for himself but for people who really deserve it.

I'd like to know how his little girl is, if you get chance to ask him.

Well done Lee, what a coup. I really enjoyed reading your interview. I thought he came over as a really star bloke. I'd like to ask him if he's glad he went on BB or not. I know it's a boring question which he'll have been asked a million times before but I'd genuinely like to know. I thought he had a dreadful time when he first came out of the house, starting with Davina's interview which was cringe-making. So, I just wondered if the good parts had outweighed all the bad or not.

kaphc 20-01-2002 05:23 PM

Hi LEE

Wow! I am so excited that you got to meet Bubble. :flower:

I would like to as him (if it's not going to be covered already) how we can get behind him and help him raise some money for the Macmillan fund.

For example. if there is an official sponsor form I would be quite happy to take one into work and get some people to sponsor him (as we are an office full of BB junkies then I think this will be very popular). Could he set something up on his website that we can download if that's the sort of thing that will help and that he's after?

Kaz 20-01-2002 10:30 PM

Hi there kaphc. :wavey:

Mark has posted the following information in another thread on the forum:

Quote:

Bubble emailed me as he is running in a 26 mile marathon to raise money for the Cancer Research Charity "McMillan"

He has asked ThisisBigBrother.com if any members would sponsor him as he has set a target of £20,000. Cancer Research is a charity we feel very strongly about at ThisisBigBrother.com and we are trying to raise as much money and have set a target of £500. So if you would like to sponsor Bubble and raise money for cancer research please either send a U2U or email me on ukbigbrother@aol.com with your name and amount and I can contact you with more information!
So feel free to contact Mark for more information - and well done for supporting Bubble. :hello:

LEE great interview. Apart from getting an update on what he's up to we got a feel for how he is doing as an individual. Much better than most interviews we see of BB people. I think it helped that you just chatted to him about what's happening in his life now, and you asked questions based on what he told you. :spin2:

It must be really depressing when people only want to talk to you about about a period in your life that lasted 2 months the previous year. They've all got so much more to offer, and have probably done far more interesting things now they're out. Unfortunately, most of the things I can think of that I'd like asked do relate to BB at least indirectly. If you think they are relevant and he doesn't look too bored you may wish to consider asking him the following

Does he wish he'd got more involved with some of the keep fit inside the house, or does he think sit-ups etc just make you look stupid on tv?

Kaz said Josh is joining him in the marathon. Are they running together, and will either of them be wearing designer shorts?

Cheeky question alert:
If Josh is entering the marathon, should we expect Stuart to start his training too?

What attracted him to McMillan as a charity to raise so much money for?

Apart from the opportunity to raise money and awareness for charities, what's the best perk that's come with his celebrity status? ie has he met any of his heroes (not just at Chelsea), or got to do anything that the rest of us only get to dream about?

Now he is a celeb, he has the privilige of having the tabloids write strange stories about him. What's the most bizarre thing he's heard about himself and/or any of his new friends?

What piece of advice would he give to the BB3 lot both on entering the new house, and when leaving and being the centre of attention?

In the last few weeks after he'd been evicted from the house - if he was able to devise some way of communicating with those remaining - what would he have told them?

And of course you have to pass on our best wishes for the training and the run. If he can let us know what colour of t-shirt he plans to wear it will make it easier for us to look out for him. :colour:

I'm sure you'll do a great job LEE, as you have already. I'm expect his answers will trigger questions far more interesting than those I can come up with, so run with it and enjoy. :flower:

Thanx for the info about sponsoring Bubble, I have asked around at work and already a few people have said they would be willing to sponsor him.

Which leads me onto my question(s) for Bubble ... I was asked to see if I could find out! Does Bubble still live in the Surbiton area and if so, does he fancy popping into our office in Surbiton sometime before he runs the marathon?? Cheeky I know, but there you are!

Honey 26-01-2002 10:27 AM

Brilliant interview LEE, well done. Bubble is really brave to train for and run the marathon to raise money for Macmillan. I wish him lots of luck and success, he deserves it for being so thoughtful and kind.

My question for Bubble is:

Bubble, after all your hard work training and giving up the ciggies etc, and then actually running the marathon itself, will you try and stay fit and healthy or go back to your old ways? (that is after your pizza fest etc!!!)
I think you are really lovely to do all this by the way, LOTS AND LOTS OF LUCK AND LOVE!:thumbs:
