Lorenzo upsets Rhian over boyfriend comment

Rhian upset ... after Prince accuses
her of "Appearing
Available" ..despite boyfriend
From the Channel 5 website:
Our cheeky sister programme –
Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The
Side, has got the housemates in a tizz
this afternoon, after the nominees
were called to the Diary Room to
answer your questions.
Rhian, in particular, emerged from the
confessional chamber feeling far from
pleased with her grilling. "Why does
everyone keep on asking me about
Ashley?" she cried. "Everyone keeps
asking how my boyfriend will feel
after watching this... I don't get it".
Prince Lorenzo was quick to offer
his opinion, pointing out that she
had previously said "I've got a
boyfriend, but it's quite a new
relationship", commenting, "Why
not just say you have a boyfriend...
why did you need to say 'but'?"
The glamour model argued that she
didn't want to make a big fuss of her
relationship to avoid attention when
she leaves the House, stating that she
only mentioned she had one at all
because of the attention from Ashley.
The Prince, however, wasn't
convinced.
"By saying 'but'...It means
somewhat available", he argued -
and it didn't seem like he wanted to
back down on the subject.
BFF Danica tried to stick up for her
pal, by arguing that it was just a
'British' thing to say, but it wasn't
enough to appease the situation. The
conversation ended with Rhian
huffing off from the group in
frustration, leaving Lorenzo to
meekly respond with "I'm sure he'll
be there" in her wake.
That's our BBBOTS, stirring things up
again! If you want to see what caused
the fallout, make sure to tune in
tonight at 11pm on Channel 5.

I agree adding "But" says that you're lessoning the importance of the relationship

Lorenzo has a point. She should have said 'I have a boyfriend'. Why add a 'but'?

Can see both sides really, Lorenzo sort of has a point but Rhian's explanation makes sense

It sounds like more of a safety net explanation though, if she ends up with someone she has already said that her and the b/f weren't serious yet but if she wants to flirt but not actually get with someone she can say Oh I have a B/f

Lorenzo says some odd thing like when he ask Danica what compensation she had with him before she went in

Isn't it just a term of speech...a colloquialism? Or just an indication that Rhian is lacking in confidence and knows that every word she says is being analyzed to the nth degree and so she isn't finishing her sentences (we can all finish it whichever way we choose but who knows bar her what she might have said next?)...she has absolutely no interest in Ashley and apart from the first few days when everyone is trying to find their place, she hasn't looked to me like she has encouraged him one iota. I know he's a judo champion but he's definitely punching way above his weight!! IMO
