Queen of Soaps? Not a chance!
I have never liked Corrie and feel no adulation for Julie, so feel able to say there are other more worthy candidates for the title Queen of Soaps. Here are my top 5. Who are yours?
1. Joan Collins - Alexis Colby (The Colbys) 2. Linda Evans - Krystle Carrington (Dynasty) 3. Anne Haddy - Helen Daniels (Neighbours) 4. Pam St Clement - Pat Butcher (Eastenders) 5. Linda Evans - Sue Ellen Ewing (Dallas) Don't think Julie would make my top ten as I haven't even touched on Home and Away, and have only allowed myself one from Eastenders and Neighbours. |
I think she is Queen of Soaps...
UK soaps at least ;) Oh & Sue Ellen is Linda Gray :p |
|
Apart from Eastenders none are British.
Julie was the Queen of the uk soaps & personally i think Angie was better than Pat at the Queen vic. |

If she's only been on one soap forever, how can she be queen of them all? All she's done is play the same character for years. Actor friends of mine say that would suggest a lack of range, though it may just be that such a lifetime commitment prevents you from doing anything else.

I hate Corrie just the theme tune makes me cringe but from my limited knowledge of it the one person that I will always remember is Ena Sharples (Violet Carson) and not Bet Lynch - I dare say in her day she was thought of as the star but sadly times have changed and moved on.

In her own deluded head ,dont forget the utter BS when she left there was 100` of 1000s of people from all around the globe waiting to throw roses at her, when she left Corrie , where were they when she needed them to save her last night ?

Julie Goodyear for a fair number of years in her time as Bet Lynch was definitely the Queen on soaps on TV.
She was massively popular in that role, a role and character that still heasn't been completely killed off yet. |
June Brown(Dot Cotton) is much more a soap legend than julie Goodyear she is older and carries herself with a lot more grace than the awful woman who just left CBB,she is a much better actress too.

Jean Alexander (Hilda Ogden)
Pat Phoenix (Elsie Tanner) Doris Speed (Annie Walker) Sarah Lancashire (Racquel Watts) Beverley Callard (Liz Macdonald) just a few off the top of my head and every one of them could have acted the leopard skin leggings off of Julie Goodyear and were bona fide legends. JG is an utter disgrace as any sort of ambassador for Corrie and she couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. |

You should change your name to pessimisticcynic. You're so grumpy all the time!

Vera and Dot are the Queens of Corrie and Eastenders imo, respectively.
I also think Peggy Mitchell could make a reasonable Queen of Soaps too. |
nah, never ever Queen of Corrie, far too many ahead of her. She was only playing herself really as well, hardly hard work, a common uncouth vulgar hag playing a vulgar uncouth hag, how hard could it be.
